William Heikkinen Proves Excellence in Academics and Sports is Possible William Heikkinen is name that many will be hearing a lot more of. Growing up in Andover, Massachusetts this superstar continues to excel in the classroom and on the field. William Heikkinen is now a freshman at the highly acclaimed Ivy League school Brown University located in Providence, Whode Island. William Heikkinen grew up in Andover, Massachusetts and graduated from Andover High School. Although this may sound common, William Heikkinen has proven that he is anything but common. In Andover he was a superstar both on the field playing football and in the classrooms. An honor student, Keikkinen worked even harder at his studies because he wanted to attend an Ivy League school. Not only was Brown University interested in him there were other Ivy League schools that we interested in his attending. Both Harvard and Princeton showed interest but William Heikkinen choose Brown University for a number of reasons. Brown University is located close enough to Andover that the commuting is not bad at all. Then there are the football legends that graduated before William and attended Brown University. Some of the legendary names include the likes of John Heisman, James Develin, Joe Paterno and Fritz Pollard. Football is a great passion for William Heikkinen and continues to be. Now that he is playing on the Brown University football team he will have to be able to juggle his academics and football games and practice. Although this seems like a lot for most, William will take it all in stride and remain unflustered. A high school peer states, “William is extraordinary in everything he decides to do, he is a nice person and an over achiever”. Great grades and a star on the high school football team did not slow William Heikkinen down at all. With a group of his high school peers, William volunteered as a tutor and mentor at a local elementary school. The team of volunteers worked with the children on academics and self-confidence boosting. Just a few of the awards earned in high school were:     

Lettered in track and field Named First Team All-State by the Boston Herald and Boston Globe Lettered in football for three years All-Merrimack Valley Conference selection Winner of the Chemistry and Survey of Films Underclassmen awards

Football is a great passion for William Heikkinen and it showed when he closed his high school football career with 126 catches for 1960 yards.
