William Heikkinen now playing for Brown Bears sporting number 88 William Heikkinen, a star football player and Ivy League student, is now playing for Brown University’s Brown Bears football team sporting number 88. After an exceptional high school football career, William is aiming for long-lasting success in the field of American Football. William Heikkinen, a star football player and Ivy League student, is now playing for Brown University’s Brown Bears football team sporting number 88. After receiving a lot of attention from Ivy League colleges and other schools upon graduation from high school, William decided to continue his studies at Brown University. “I decided to join Brown University for a number of reasons,” explainedWilliam Heikkinen, “Brown University’sathletic program is top notch, and the Brown Bears compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. It is a great honor for me to play for them and have to opportunity to study at Brown.” William has stated that he knows he has to reach far to get real success in American Football, and the fact that his university has the fourth largest collegiate athletic program will provide him with the opportunity to grow as a player as well as an academic. Brown University is also noted for the fact that many of its star athletes are high achievers and are active in various aspects of campus life, not only their chosen sport. William Heikkinen already has an impressive background of sporting and academic success. In his ambition to reach for real success in American Football, William amassed 126 catches in 1,960 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns in his high school football career. As a receiver for the Golden Warriors in Andover, William Heikkinen was noted by teammate Andy Coke as ‘one to watch’, and this came true as he continually impressed during his games for the team. Many have recognized that William Heikkinen, who is 6 foot 1 inch tall and 195 pounds, greatly benefitted the Andover Golden Warriors football team. Able to use his size and strength effectively, William was a two-time Merrimack Valley Conference All-Star by the time his senior year rolled around, and caught 67 passes for 1,162 yards and 9 touchdowns during his last season to add to his 7 interceptions from his cornerback position. William is now hoping to replicate his success in American Football for the Brown Bears as well as excel academically. The team is currently coached by Phil Estes who looks for ‘toughness’ as a crucial characteristic of players. William Heikkinen believes that being handle the rigors of the demanding academic environment as well as practice for and play 10 games per season is critical to his future success as an American Football player and a student at Brown.
