William Heikkinen continues impressive football career William Heikkinen, a star American Football player and Ivy League student, is continuing his impressive football career as a wide receiver for the Brown Bears. After setting school records for the Andover Golden Warriors, William is now bringing his skills and experience to the renowned Brown University team. William Heikkinen, a star American Football player and Ivy League student, is continuing his impressive football career as a wide receiver for the Brown Bears. Driven to succeed in both football and academics, William has been noted as being both an exceptional student and a player to watch. William completed his high school football career for the Andover Golden Warriors with 126 catches for 1,960 yards, both school records, and was named First Team All-State by the Boston Globe and Boston Herald after recoding 72 catches for 1,172 yards and 9 touchdowns in his senior year. In addition to this, William was named Student Athlete of the Month by the Eagle Tribune, Andover’s local newspaper. “I am really pleased to have been given the opportunity to continue my football career at Brown University playing for the Brown Bears,” said William Heikkinen, “I know I have to work hard to succeed and Brown can offer both the high standard of education and American Football training and experience to reach my goals.” Despite his continued success as wide receiver for the Brown Bears, the star player has spoken out about why Andover will alwaysremain a special place in his life. He has said that it was here that he began his football career in eighth grade, never once expecting that it would lead to so much success.William Heikkinen participated in many sports as a child and high school student, enjoying the competitive and fun nature of team sports. William Heikkinen was also a straight-A student at Andover High, getting on the Honor Roll every term. He was lettered in football for all three years of high school, and was also lettered in track and field. A well-rounded student, William was also a Winner of the Chemistry and Survey of Film Underclassmen awards. Another reason why Andover will always remain a special place in William’s life is that he spent part of his time volunteering in the community with his classmates and peers. William participated in a mentoring initiative at the Robert L Frost Elementary School in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Here, William helped children who were having difficulty at school achieve their academic potential. Teachers noted that as a result of William and his peers’ mentoring, the struggling children made great academic improvements and also benefitted from boosted self-esteem and confidence. For this, William Heikkinen and all the other high school seniors received a letter of commendation from the school principal for their contributions to the children and the school. Whilst William Heikkinen moves on with his outstanding football and academic career at Brown University, he has stated that he will never forget the positive influence that his experiences as a player for the Golden Warriors, a dedicated Andover high school student and a volunteer made on him.
