“Hawks Season Ends with 9 Seconds Left On Clocks” by Ari Grossman The first playoff game for the ‘rebuilding year’ was an exciting one at Richardson Stadium in Kingston as the Hawks fell to the Golden Gaels in the final 9 seconds of the game. The score of game was 29-27 for the Gaels. Laurier started the first quarter by scoring a single on the first kick of the game. Following that up was Matt Babel’s 32-yard touchdown that gave the Hawks an 8-0 lead. Also at the end of the quarter was Ed Becker’s field goal. Going into the second, the Hawks changed sides and now were facing the tough Kingston

wind. Lots of movement and incompletion filled the second until later in the quarter when Queen’s scored a touchdown and a field goal to put them behind the Hawks by one. The Hawks came back to the third quarter with a lot of energy as they kept the Golden Gaels off the board all through the quar-

ter. Nick Cameron was the first to add the Hawk’s points rushing 54 yards to hit a touchdown. Following that with only 1:15 left in the half, Ed Becker added 3 more hitting another field goal to make the score 21-10.

Tailback Marvin Williams got the Hawk running game going at the start of the game. He ended with 91 yards.

The fourth quarter by far was the nail biter; the Golden Gaels added a touchdown and missed the convert but then followed up with a 65-yard pass to James MacLean (where once again the convert was missed) who put the Gaels ahead for the first time of the game. Responding to the threat was once again Nick Cameron who was able to move the ball for another touchdown. A two-point convert was attempted to make sure the Hawks had their win, however the attempt failed and Hawks remained up by 5. With only 9 seconds left in the game,
