An old man was critically ill. Feeling that death was near, he called his lawyer. “I want to become a lawyer. How much is it or the express degree you told me about?” “It’s $50,000,” the lawyer said. “But why? You’ll be dead soon, why do you want to become a lawyer?” “That’s my business! Get me the course!” Four days later, the old man got his law degree. His lawyer was at his bedside, making sure his bill would be paid. Suddenly the old man was racked with fits of coughing and it was clear that this would be the end. Still curious, the lawyer leaned over and said, “please, before it’s too late, tell me why you wanted to to get a law degree so badly before you died?” In a faint whisper, as he breathed his last, the old man said, “One less lawyer”

Terry and Rich at the Hydrofest races
The Feeney family at the Hydrofest races
Dawn and Jack Martin from North Wildwood A lady goes to her parish priest one day and tells him, “Father, I have a problem. I have two female parrots but they only know how to say one thing.” “What do they say?” the priest inquired. “They say, ‘Hi, we’re prostitutes. Do you want to have some fun?” “That’s obscene!” the priest exclaimed, “I can see why you are embarrassed.” He thought a minute and then said, “You know, I may have a solution to this problem. I have two male parrots whom I have taught to pray and read the Bible.
The Gilberts from the Villas at the Hydrofest races
Bring your two parrots over to my house and we will put them in the cage with Francis and Job. My parrots can teach your parrots to praise and worship. I’m sure your parrots will stop saying that...that phrase in no time.” “Thank you,” the woman responded, “this may very well be the solution.” The next day, she brought her female parrots to the priest’s house. As he ushered her in, she saw this two male parrots were inside their cage, hold their rosary beads and praying. Impressed, she walked over and placed her parrots in with them. After just a couple of seconds, the female parrots exclaimed out in unison, “Hi, we’re prostitutes. Do you want to have some fun?” There was a stunned silence. Finally, one male parrot looked over at the other male parrot and said, “Put the beads away, Francis, our prayers have been answered!”

Peg and I spent a couple of days in Annapolis, Maryland with our friends Ed (Eddy Stamps) and Debbie DiDomenico (Ed’s the former Postmaster of Wildwood, now retired). Always fun with those two. Had drinks at Pusser’s Dock at the Marriott Hotel right on the canal where they used to bring in the slaves from Africa and where they auctioned them off to the highest bidder. Hard to believe that it happened on the same ground where tourists now walk around eating ice cream cones, having lunch at sidewalk cafes, etc. Alex Haley, the author of Roots, has a bronze statue that marks the spot where the slaves were auctioned off. Lots of history here. The odd thing about Annapolis is that it’s the state capital, since it really isn’t much bigger than Cape May. Very similar to Cape May in a lot of ways . . . great walking town, lots of shopping, great restaurants and bars. Peg and Debbie spend most of their time shopping, Ed and I spend most of our time figuring out how to keep Peg and Debbie out of the 100’s of specialty shops along Main Street. Main Street is a lot like the Washington Street Mall in Cape May. We intice them with cocktails and lunch at the aforementioned Pussers Restaurant which is a great place to watch the boats (huge yachts) coming and going. This weekend they are having the largest boat show in the world (as advertised) and we were facinated at how much effort it took to get these sailing yachts in place for the weekend. We always stay at a funky little place called “Chick & Ruth’s Scotlaur Inn” right on Main Street. Certainly nothing like it in Cape May. The Deli is on the ground floor and a Hotel on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The Deli offers great food and is packed most of the day with cadets, tourists and is also a place for politicians (presidents, senators, etc.) to go since it’s right down the street from the State Capital building. The rooms are plain, not many amenities, but the price is right and the best thing is that you’re right in the middle of town. We’ve been staying there for years and love it. Teddy and Chuck make it a special “can’t miss” place to go. Jay Kopp turned us onto the place years ago. He would stay there when he was into competitive sailing. Anyway, we had a great weekend, always nice to get away with Ed and Debbie. If you need a quick getaway, Annapolis is the place to go . . . and don’t miss “Chick & Ruth’s Deli”
