South Tyrolean companies and the European domestic market

1. Companies demand simple rules. Greater harmonization of product and service markets should be sought. De-regulation is also needed. The degree of regulation is still comparatively high in Germany, France and Italy. For companies, a harmonized tax system would also relieve them from the additional bureaucratic work that arises from bilateral tax rules. 2. Companies demand the facilitation of cross-border mobility. Unproblematic recognition of professional qualifications, uniform regulation of professions and retention of pension entitlements acquired abroad could have a beneficial effect on labor mobility. The same applies to the international recognition of study titles. 3. Companies demand functioning and compatible infrastructures throughout Europe for transport, energy and telecommunications. There is a great need for action regarding the creation of a single market for energy. The concentration on the electricity markets remains very high. An integration of the energy markets at European level would considerably weaken the influence of large market participants and thus ensure more competition. 4. Companies demand the same conditions of competition in all EU countries. A high potential for improvement lies, for example, in public procurement. On average, more than 80% of public procurement was not tendered EU-wide in 2010. Foreign bidders received only 3.4% of all public contracts in the period 20062010.
