~ N E W S F R O M T H E C L U B S~ Lunch Club Last month we enjoyed a great cottage pie cooked up for us by Karen Cleave. Sadly, we lost our dessert cook to Covid, so at the last minute Jenny Elphick stepped in and produced Caribbean custard pie which was fortunately well appreciated. In such circumstances a relief cook is really needed by Lunch Club…Any offers? Our next lunch is on Wednesday 10th August. We invite you to join us at 12 o’clock and a 2-course meal will be served at 12.30 and the charge is £4 per person. If you wish to join us, you will need to make a booking by the 5 th August. Please contact me by phone, text or email. Contact details below. Jenny Elphick; Tel 01449 766885, Mobile 07745416091 or email jenny.elphick@sim.org

‘Crafternoon’ on Saturday 13th August 2-4pm Whatever your art or craft bring along your current project. Share skills, ideas, tips and techniques. Inspire and be inspired in the company of other creative people. If you have an ‘arty’ or ‘crafty’ friend then bring them too. Surplus art/craft items & books to sell? Bring them for the bring and buy table. Entry: £2.00 per person (inc. tea/coffee/biscuits).

Hilltop Women’s Group Our July meeting was an outing to Beccles where we had time to browse and have lunch and then onward to Raveningham Hall to look round the gardens and have tea and cake. The Agapanthus, for which the Hall is renowned, were just showing colour, so they might be at their peak now. A very pleasant day out in the sunshine. We meet again in the village hall in September and are looking forward to an introduction to “Finding My Past.” More about this in September’s newsletter. Have a safe and sunny summer. From the Hilltop Committee.

Many churches will be open & you can get sponsored to visit as many or as few as you feel able, by cycle or on foot. Of the money raised, 50% goes to the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust & 50% to your nominated church. I have done the ride for most years since 1987 & it’s a good way to see churches in Suffolk & Norfolk. It’s also a great way to raise money for the building fabric of the church. If you would like to take part, I have sponsorship forms & further information. Alternatively, if you would like to sponsor me, please let me know. If there is anyone willing to sit in church for an hour on 10 th to welcome and sign in any cyclists/walkers and offer them refreshment please contact Liz Davidson. Many Thanks More than one month ago our amazing host Samantha Mulgrew started the GoFund project to help my family raise the money for a car and with it our independence. I had my own money but it was not enough to buy the car. Sam made the announcement in the Wickham Skeith village newsletter and we received a lot of support from citizens of this amazing village. I'm very thankful to everyone who took part in this project and helped our family to raise money for my car. Also, I'm thankful to Steve for lending his car to my sister-inlaw. We tried to raise the money for one family and amazingly received opportunities for two families now 😃 I, Hanna Derevianko, and from all of our little Ukrainian community in Wickham Skeith, are all very thankful for your interest, help, support and protection. Thank you very much for these great opportunities. In Ukraine we say that "Ukraine is the capital of great people". I could say the same about the people of Wickham Skeith: you are amazing and great! Thanks to everyone! Best wishes , Hanna Derevianko

😀 THANKYOU 😀 Thank you so very much to everyone who contributed to the purchase of a car for my lovely Ukrainian Guest Hanna. Through Go Fund Me donations, and her own savings, we were able to buy her a Nissan Qashqai, her first instalment of insurance, road tax and breakdown cover, plus all the safety bits for her car. She has called her “Nitsa” and has ventured as far as Colchester and West Mersea already. Giving her greater freedom & independence. Thank you again Sam xx

Rector’s Ramblings August is the month of the Summer holidays! Now we’ve had the heatwave, August will be filled with the Great British rain!! It’s a month of winding down, of going away and of taking a break. Jesus took breaks. In fact, his breaks kept him going. He would often take trips to be by the Sea of Galilee (a really beautiful and calm place), and he often escaped up hills and mountains to be alone. In those times he would pray and draw close to God. It was this that sustained him in his preaching and as he performed miraculous signs. On those breaks, Jesus connected with God and with himself. We must do the same too, when we get the chance – to connect with the One who created us and knows us in order to find refreshment and peace for the journey ahead. Why not use August to do just that? Revd Carl

Tarot Readings I'm Hanna Derevianko and I'm Ukrainian. Let me introduce to you a unique skill I have. In 2017 I studied Tarot energies and I started to provide Tarot readings for customers. Since 2017 I have made hundreds of Tarot-readings for different people with different requests. The questions which have been asked are about the common situation, about relationships, about work or business, about health. I help a lot of people to find their way of correct decisions and to become happy. I think that this skill could be useful here, in Wickham Skeith. I guarantee the confidential and gentle Tarot-reading to my customers. If you have any questions, please, contact me by phone 07708129327 or email anyusha.issa@gmail.com
