letter from the editor Is the D.C. region ready for a creative renaissance? We’ve seen the #DontMuteDC movement hit the big stage and some local faces are now major recording artists. We have labels visiting the back streets and young entrepreneurs taking advantage of the digital era. If you haven’t been paying attention to the local music scene....don’t sleep. In this latest edition of the Bridge, we bring you a sliver of insight on what to expect next out of the DMV music scene. We talk with Southeast’s hip-hop phenomenon AnkhleJohn, who has been taking the underground by storm with his cutting lyrics and expressive composure. We link up with Vish, a newcomer on the scene from uptown with deep ties to his Indian heritage. We learn more about the DC-based music documentary ‘From Almost to Awesome’ which is still in production. Lastly, we get to see some familiar faces in our photo gallery of the Moechella Unity Festival. One thing we’re sure of is that there’s never a dull moment in the DMV. We’re keeping our eyes and ears to the cement and making sure we dish you all the details. If you want to get hip, check out our Sounds of the DMV showcase on Youtube and let us know your thoughts.
