White Bear track teams both win SEC Relays White Bear Lake boys and girls track teams each won the Suburban East Conference Relays last week with the girls competing in Roseville and the boys at home. The format was combining each team’s top four times or distances into one total. The Bear boys had firsts by Eric Servatius in triple jump (41-1) and high jump (5-10), Loren Altman in long jump (20-2), Thiesfeld Connor in discus (135-6) and the 4x100 throwers. Placing second were
Ben Vanderbosch in the 1600, Bailey Bolton in shot put and Spencer Herron in high jump. McManan Connor was third in 300 hurdles. The Bears girls had two firsts: the sprint medley, Madeline Wallace tying for best high jump (5-0). Erika Townley was second in 100 hurdles and Yajaira Lansiquot was second in 300 hurdles. Keely Nistler took third in the 3200 and Caitlin Wallace was third in long jump.

Bear softball gets two shutouts and three homers White Bear Lake softball cruised to two straight 8-0 wins last week, over Cretin-Derham Hall and Mounds View, belting three home runs in the process. Eden Ambrose had the shutout against Cretin-Derham Hall (which was 3-0 entering the game, with 29 runs) on a four-hitter with nine strikeouts. Parker Nordstrom spun a two-hitter with no walks against Mounds View (0-4). Launching homers were Kari Breuer against Cretin-Derham Hall, and Nordstrom and Beth Lylgren against Mounds View. The Bears (2-1) lost their opener to Park of Cottage Grove 5-1.
Rogowski gem gives Bear baseball its lone win so far finished for the save. The Bears’ six hits included an RBI single by DJ Corey. The Bears (1-3) have lost their other games to Hopkins 11-3, Park 9-7 and East Ridge 4-2. Bruce Strand

Eric Servatius, White Bear Lake senior trackster, won the high jump and triple jump to help the Bears place first in the SEC Relays on April 13, and won those two events plus long jump in the Bears’ indoor meet at WisconsinStout on April 7. Seasons bests are a 6-4 high jump, 41-6 triple jump and 19-10 long jump.
