faqs There’s some debate as to what constitutes a “local” in Whistler. Is it the length of time you’ve lived here? Your passion for the mountains? Is it because you don’t belong anywhere else but here? Whatever the reason, so-called “locals” have it dialed when it comes to living and loving Whistler. Read up on these FAQ’s and get a sense of what it’s like to “live like a local.” Q: How old is Whistler? A: The first commercial fishing lodge opened more than 100 years ago but the skiing didn’t start until 51 years ago, in the winter of 1966. The Resort Municipality of Whistler was officially incorporated on Sept. 6, 1975. It was the first designated Resort Municipality in B.C.

Q: It seems as though you’re speaking another language here: viz, Pineapple Express, pow. What does it all mean? A: Understandably, a lot of our lingo
