Surprising, Generous Gifts It’s such an uplift to know that our community of over 400 donors stands with the staff and board as we continue to care for this place, these programs, and the community of leaders and learners that calls the Whidbey Institute home. When a surprising, generous gift comes in it helps us lean into our bright future. We received such a gift in early 2021 when Nancy Nordhoff surprised us with a donation to build a long-needed maintanence shed for facilities steward Beno Kennedy, along with replacing roofs on the old shop and Farmhouse picnic shelter. Also in 2021, Paul Lippert and Julie Beckman gave a generous donation that allowed us to pay the balance on our 30 acre Legacy Forest purchase and invest in our Forest Stewardship plan. After a conversation in the Art Barn last spring, Penelope and Terry Bourk donated to support development of facilities near Storyhouse once our Youth Campus plans are finalized. Gifts like these, which often come after donors and community members visit the land and feel what their investment might make possilble here, take our breath away. Thank you! 24
