Welcome to Wheat Ridge Parks & Recreation

For 50 years, Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation has been providing programs, experiences, and spaces that enhance the lives of people in our community. We love sharing these special moments with you, which is why we take fun seriously. We are committed to offering quality programs and events for you and your family to connect with people, parks and play in Wheat Ridge.

Get To Know Our Team

Cydne Pope Aquatics Coordinator

Cydne joined the Wheat Ridge Aquatics team in April 2024 and brings 13 years of experience in aquatics throughout the Denver metro area. An avid swimmer growing up, she developed a deep appreciation for aquatics, which ultimately led her to her current role as Recreation Coordinator – Aquatics. She looks forward to seeing many of you around the recreation center!

Cydne holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from the University of Puget Sound. In addition to her professional role, she serves as the Secretary for the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association’s Aquatics Section Board, actively contributing to the growth and advancement of the industry.

Outside of work, Cydne enjoys cooking and baking, practicing yoga, experiencing live music, and traveling the world. Her best friend is her cat, Daffodil.

Stephen Clyde Athletics & Anderson Building Supervisor

Stephen joined the City of Wheat Ridge in 2014 as the Fitness and Athletic Coordinator. In 2016, he was promoted to Recreation Supervisor for General Programs and Marketing. In March 2025, Stephen transitioned to the role of Athletics and Anderson Building Supervisor. This new position allows him to align his passion for athletics with his bachelor’s degree in Sports Industry Operations as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.

During his 11 years with the city, Stephen has achieved several noteworthy accomplishments. He earned his Certified Parks and Recreation Professional certification, obtained a certification in Financial Sustainability, assisted with the department’s rebranding efforts in 2017, received multiple city awards, and built lasting friendships along the way.

A proud father of four, Stephen enjoys spending his free time with his family. He and his wife own two hair salons—Hazel & Harley Salon in Denver and Hendrix Salon in Wheat Ridge. With four kids and two businesses, hobbies can be hard to come by, but when time allows, Stephen loves to run, travel, and cheer on his favorite sports teams.

Two-Year Spotlight Celebration & Community Planting Event

Saturday, June 7 | 8 am- 12 pm Anderson Park, 4355 Field Street

Join us to celebrate two years since the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt was selected as a 2023 Leave No Trace Spotlight!

In June of 2023, the Greenbelt was featured as a key example of how communities can rise to meet the environmental challenges we face. This special event highlighted the importance of Leave No Trace principles, and now we’re celebrating the ongoing commitment to keeping our parks and open spaces pristine.

This morning of education, action, and celebration will focus on the Leave No Trace principles that help us protect our natural surroundings in the front country. Start the day by learning about how we can all make a positive impact on our environment through simple, everyday actions like minimizing waste, respecting nature, and preserving the beauty of our public spaces. After a short introduction to the Leave No Trace principles, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in activities such as:

1. Tree and perennial planting

2. Weed removal and trash collection to keep our Nature Play Area pristine

3. Learn about eco-friendly practices to reduce our environmental footprint

This is the perfect chance to get involved, make a tangible difference, and connect with others who care about protecting our natural spaces.

End the morning with a celebration BBQ and enjoy a complimentary swim pass to Anderson Pool—your reward for making a positive impact on our environment!
