Chatswood - Lights Chatswood lights are always worth a visit. Here are just two of the eighteen light installations you will find there. Ether Elm - Interview with Joshua Greenhalgh, one of the artist Ether Elm is a fun, interactive installation in Chatswood Mall that combines the industrial aesthetic of space age technology with the inspiration and joy evoked through colour and sound. Join in a creative bonding experience together with your friends, family and fellow festival goers. Sing, shout, laugh, talk and whisper to produce engaging light sequences generated by each different pattern of tone. What subjects and themes do you explore through your practice. Why? My designs explore the relationship between humans, technology and nature, aiming to balance the strengths and weaknesses of these forces to create solutions that allow for them to co-exist and work in unison. How did you explore these ideas through the work for Vivid Sydney at Chatswood 2019? The microphone stands out as a strange high tech device that draws in attention and curiosity, while inviting people to express themselves. When voice input comes through it feeds this into lights wrapped around a tree, displaying the flow of energy between humans and nature, and reminding us of the power we have to effect the world around us.
