The final frontier Lichfield Cathedral’s Great Exhibition is this year celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing with a show that reveals ‘the universe, galaxies, space, creation and light’. Space: God, The Universe And Everything is a stunning visual spectacle created by the award-winning Luxmuralis artistic collaboration. The exhibition features internal Son-et-Lumiere, artworks and sound & light installations. It’s available to view on selected dates between 8 & 26 August.

Silverware Central for Shropshire Festivals? Events organiser Shropshire Festivals has been shortlisted for two coveted awards. The company, whose events include Shrewsbury Food Festival, Shropshire Kids Festival, Field To Fork and Shropshire Oktoberfest, has been nominated for the LUX Life Global Hospitality Awards and in the Midlands Best Rural Tourism Business category of the Rural Business Awards. Company founder Beth Heath has also been shortlisted as a regional finalist for the Female Entrepreneur award at the FL National Awards & Summit. Dudley Zoo has welcomed its first ever Linne’s two-toed sloth - a three-year-old male named Reggie who’s joined the zoo from Amazon World Zoo Park on the Isle of Wight. Commenting on the new arrival, curator Richard Brown said: “This is a species we’ve wanted as part of our expanding animal collection for many years, so it’s great we’ve been able to welcome Reggie. “We know he’ll be a very popular addition with our visitors. Hopefully in the future he will be joined by a female so that we can be in a position to breed.”

A brand new family event is coming to Shropshire this month. Boots And Roots is a ‘digital detox’ day out, where families can get involved in activities including den-building, crafts, messy play, gardening, cooking, sports and plenty more. Family-friendly caterers will also be onsite, offering ‘great home-cooked food at easygoing prices’. The event takes place at Haughton Farm, just outside Shrewsbury, on Sunday 19 August.

A footbridge in Telford is in need of a name and members of the general public are being invited to choose their favourite option from a shortlist of possibilities. The footbridge opened last year, with 200 school children given the challenge of coming up with a selection of names, from which people can now choose a winner.
