Midlands Air Festival Arbury Hall, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Fri 17 - Sun 19 May

Taking place at Arbury Hall for the first time, the Midlands Air Festival offers three action-packed days of aviation-based fun. More than 30 aircraft are on display across the weekend, 100 hotair balloons take to the skies, and multiple exhibitors, rides and other forms of entertainment ensure there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy. The Friday evening sees a Nightfire display lighting up the sky with pyrotechnics, a flying circus, glowing hot-air balloons and, of course, fireworks.

Shrewsbury Wacky Races Quarry Park, Shrewsbury, Sun 26 May

Forty-four crazy soapbox cars descend on Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park this Spring Bank Holiday Sunday, as the town hosts its first ever wacky races. Spectators can watch as racers hurtle down the 300m track in their carefully crafted carts, hope-

fully avoiding the icy waters of the River Severn at the end of their journey! Competitors will work their way through a knockout-style competition, with only the fastest 10 cars making it through to the final, where they’ll battle it out to take home the winner’s trophy. The event is free to attend, with pop-up street food stalls, bars and loads of family-fun activities all featuring.

Unicorn Pony Rides Arley Arboretum, Worcestershire, Mon 6 and Mon 27 May

Bellator Birmingham: Primus vs Wilde Resorts World Arena, Sat 4 May Leading mixed martial arts promoter Bellator MMA's next event in the European Fight Series is headlined by a lightweight bout between former Bellator world champion Brent Primus and the Cannock-based Tim ‘The Ex-

periment’ Wilde. Birmingham’s hometown hero Fabian Edwards, who fights out of Team Renegade Gym, also competes on the card alongside a host of other local fighters.

Back by popular demand, the magical unicorns of Arley Arboretum are making appearances on both of this month’s Bank Holiday Mondays. Children can take a ride on a ‘unicorn’ through the enchanted woodland, ending their journey at the Unicorn Bar and enjoying some special treats. The rides are suitable for youngsters aged three to 12, depending on size and height. Pre-booking is required.
