Bringing a steer down

Steer wrestler Kal Klovansky of Edgeley, Sask., had a firm grip on this steer’s head as he wrestled it down to the ground in 5.9 seconds.This was part of the action on Saturday in the Souris River Rodeo, back as part of the Weyburn Fair for the first time since 2019.

Walker Sjogren of Big Beaver, Sask., had a high view of the ground before he was bucked off during the novice saddle bronc event at the Souris River Rodeo on Friday.

Having a rough ride at the rodeo

Brodie Moldowan of Weyburn hung on as he was bucked hard in the bareback bronc event at the Souris River Rodeo on Friday. He earned 72 points for holding on until the eight-second buzzer went.

Barrel-racer Kylie Rasmuson of Midale made the turn around the final barrel in the cloverleaf pattern at the Deep South Barrel Racing Jackpot held at the Weyburn Fair on Thursday evening. She also competed in the junior girls barrel-racing at the Souris River Rodeo on Saturday.

Falling short of the buzzer Zane King of Corning fell after being bucked off as he competed in the saddle bronc event at the Souris River Rodeo on Saturday, held as a part of the Weyburn Fair. King didn’t quite hang on for the full eight seconds to turn in a qualified ride for points. The rodeo began on Friday evening, slack events were held on Saturday morning and then the second half of the main competition was held Saturday afternoon in front of the grandstands.
