Comp Eagles football team ends regular season undefeated

By Sabrina Kraft The Weyburn Eagles football team ended their regular season undefeated, after claiming a 30-0 victory over the Moose Jaw Peacock Tornadoes on Friday night. The Eagles had a 6-0 record in their 2021 5A Rural Football League season. It was the first undefeated regular season for the team since 2009. Danny Fortune, Grade 11 centre for the Eagles, said, “It felt great. It feels good to be number one in the league again. I haven’t felt that since bantam.” “Our team is doing great, our defense is really good and our offense is doing great. We can always get better at some things, but all and all, we are doing really well.” “We haven’t been an undefeated team in a while, so it is an awesome feeling,” said quarterback

Ben Michel. “We have a great group of guys, who all combined are really good and we really like each other.” The Eagles will host the Yorkton Raider Gridders for the league final at Darold Kot Field in Weyburn on Saturday, October 30. “Yorkton has always been a pretty good team, they are big, strong and fast and that is what you need in a football game,” said offensive and defensive lineman Parker Thompson. “It will be a good game.” “Yorkton is a great team, well-polished, so we will just have to work on our plays and get better every day so we can bring home a championship this year,” added Michel. The team that wins the league final will earn the right to host the Saskatoon league championships in the provincial semi-finals.
