The Whale in the Bay
L
eslie Sutton bought this whale weathervane on a trip south: “I thought it was so west coast and suited our vision of Horseshoe Bay being a quaint, seaside village.” Leslie and her partner, Lil Chrzan, take time out every day to enjoy the weathervane. “It sits on our garage, above Lil’s studio, and we watch it from our living room window,” says Leslie. Lil, an artist, has lived and worked in Horseshoe Bay for 30 years. Known for her masterful depictions of golden light across luminous west coast scenes, Lil’s dramatic lightfilled paintings invite us to enter her world and experience a sense of calm transcendence. She will be participating in the Horseshoe Bay Art Walk on Sunday, May 15 (see p. 7). Photo: courtesy of Leslie Sutton
