Thechildrenareprovidedwithafreshlypreparedsnackplate twiceaday.Anexamplesnackmaybe:anapple,pepper,and cucumber,cheesecubes,andaricecake/breadstickor,fresh fruitsuchasstrawberriesormelonandacracker/ryebiscuit WeaskyoutosendyourchildtoNurserywithawaterbottle, whichtheywillthenhaveaccesstothroughouttheday.The childrenarealsoofferedmilk.
PleasenotethatweareaNUT-FREENurseryandSchool, withnoexceptions.Thisistoprotectchildrenwhohavesevere allergies.

TheNurseryteamisdedicatedtothesafety,care,health,andwelfareofyour child.Wewilltakemeasurestokeepthemashealthyaspossiblebypreventingthe spreadofvirusesandbacteriathroughcleaningandgoodhygienepractices
•Childrenwhoareunwellshouldnotbebroughttothenursery.Ourpriorityisto keepallchildrenandstaffsafeandwell.We,therefore,reservetherighttorefuse entryforanychilddeemedunwellandunabletoenjoytheirdaywithusat nursery.
•Parents/guardiansmustnotifystaffiftheirchildhasbeenunwellattheweekend orinthenight,andiftheyhavebeengivenanymedicinesuchasCalpol/Nurofen priortocomingtonursery.IfCalpol/Nurofenhasbeengiven,wemayaskyouto keepyourchildathomefor24hoursbeforereturningtothesetting.
•AnychildwhohashadvomitingandordiarrheamustnotreturntotheNursery untilatleast48hourshaveelapsedfromthelastboutofvomitingandordiarrhea andtheyareeatinganddrinkingnormally.

WestonbirtNurserywelcomeschildrenfromtheageof2years,andthereare optionstoattendtermtimeonlyorallyearround.Additionally,forthose attendingtermtime,thereisaflexibleoptiontoattendsessionsduringthe holidaysAd-hocsessionscanbebookedviaMrsFriend,however,last-minute requestsmaynotbegrantedifadditionalstaffinghasnotbeenarranged.So,be suretoletusknowinplentyoftime.

WhatistheEarlyYearsFoundationStageCurriculum?
TheEarlyYearsFoundationStage(EYFS)ishowthegovernmentandEarlyYears professionalsdescribethetimeinyourchild’slifebetweenbirthandagefive. InthecontextofWestonbirtPrepSchool,thisreferstothetimespentinourthree NurseryclassesandtheirReceptionyear.
Thesearetheformativeyearsofyourchild’seducationandservetopreparethem academicallyandsociallyforthetransitionintotheyearsbeyond.

AssessmentandReporting
Academicassessmentofyourchild’sprogresswillbebasedontheprimeareasand willbebrokendownintoage-appropriatedevelopmentpoints.Theseare communicatedviaouronlineassessmentapp,Tapestry(ongoingthroughouttime inEYFS),andwrittenreports(bi-annually)
AttheendoftheReceptionyear,youwillreceiveaprofiledetailingyourchild’s exactprogressagainsttheEarlyLearningGoals.Theprofileprovidesyouwitha well-roundedpictureofyourchild’sknowledge,understanding,andabilities,their progressagainstexpectedlevels,andtheirreadinessforYearOne.Theprofile reflectsongoingobservations,interventionsthathavebeendelievered,and dialoguebetweenparentsandcarersandanyotheradultswhoteachorsupport yourchild
