Introduction
The introduction of the EnAct Programme is an important part of the evolution of education at Westonbirt. Our philosophy has always been that we deliver a broad, holistic education, where activities beyond the classroom are just as important as academic lessons.
This programme brings Saturdays into line with our Co-Curricular programme during the week, offering opportunities for enrichment, adventure and challenge to all our pupils.
As you look through the following pages, I would encourage every pupil to engage with a variety of different activities throughout the year, selecting from each of the different categories we have defined. The programme is designed to encourage a breadth of experience, to engage with our community and to be fully prepared for the challenges of the modern world.
Simon Balderson Deputy Head (Academic)Introduction
Activities
The programme offers a number of optional activities on Saturday mornings, based around the following five categories:
Service, Leadership and Community Academic Endeavour
Culture and Creativity Enterprise and Engineering Challenge andAdventure
Parents can book pupils into any of these activities online, via the school portal.
Timings of the Day
Registration on Saturdays takes place at 8.45am. The day then runs from 9am to 12pm, with a break from 10.15am to 10.45am.
Any exceptions to this, for example, for an external activity or trip, will be made clear to parents.
Clashes and Sports Fixtures
Throughout the year, there may be clashes with some of these activities and sports fixtures, which are increasingly taking place on Saturday mornings. Representing the school at a fixture should always take priority over other activities. The programme is designed to offer activities over a number of weeks, giving pupils the greatest possible opportunity to take part, alongside sporting or other commitments.
