WELCOME Home to Westonbirt School, Westonbirt House is a magnificent Victorian mansion house in the heart of the Cotswolds, set in 210 acres of absolutely stunning parkland and Italian gardens. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and Westonbirt School is an incredible setting with unique rooms and majestic gardens. Our dedicated team understand you would like your day to be magical. They will work with you to ensure that all the elements you desire are in place. The planning will be meticulous, ensuring you and your selected guests have a wonderful day. Our team will be on hand to manage every detail. Having your wedding at Westonbirt School provides an opportunity for an enchanting day with a selection of rooms to suit the size of your wedding party which, together with your menu selections, mean you are able to create your own unique experience. Unique Spaces Designed by Victorian architect Lewis Vulliamy in the early nineteenth century, Westonbirt House and Gardens are a photographer’s dream. There are a number of stunning unique spaces, enabling you to capture those photos that will last a lifetime.
Outdoor Ceremonies West Pavilion Situated in our manicured Italian Gardens, West Pavilion provides a tranquil and picturesque setting for your wedding. Camelia House Camellia House provides a small and private space, filled with blooms from Autumn to Spring offering vibrant colour and a unique setting for an outdoor wedding. Upper Terrace With Westonbirt House as your dramatic backdrop, Upper Terrace offers space and versatility for ceremonies of all sizes.
The Great Hall The Great Hall is a magnificent room of 75 feet in length with a very high, ornamental ceiling. The room contains a huge marble fireplace, the sister of which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum. The centrepiece of the house, the Great Hall can be used for ceremonies or wedding breakfasts in the day, before being transformed seamlessly into an impressive reception space for your evening celebrations. Banquet Capacity: 150 people on long tables 120 people on round tables. The Great Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies up to 150 people
The Library The Library is one of the most exquisite rooms in Westonbirt House with its ornate painted and gilded ceiling, its silk covered walls and huge windows overlooking the grounds. Most popular for ceremonies, it can also be a unique space for your wedding breakfast or evening reception. Banquet Capacity: 80 people on round tables. The Library is licensed for civil ceremonies up to 120 guests.
The Dining Room This stunningly decorated room retains its original function as a dining room fit for the most special occasion. The light and wonderfully warm space makes for a great wedding breakfast setting. Banquet Capacity: 100 people on long or round tables.
The Reading Room Primarily used for the bar and indoor drinks receptions, with direct access to the Upper Terrace and gardens, the Reading Room is always popular throughout the day. This versatile room can also be used for ceremonies and banquets, and is the licensed room for weddings taking place on Upper Terrace. Capacity: 90 people on long or round tables. The Reading Room is licenses for civil ceremonies up to 75 guests.
Westonbirt House sits within 210 acres of beautiful grounds and gardens. Formally the private home of the Holford family, this hidden gem is imposing from the outside and exquisitely ornate from within. Built between 1863-1870, the house has a rich history and was once described by Country Life Magazine as being one of “the finest examples of Victorian architecture, landscape and gardens in the Cotswolds” A range of captivating staterooms, coupled with a number of stunning outdoor spaces to explore, Westonbirt House truly is a venue for all seasons and is guaranteed to wow your guests as the day unfolds.
St Catherine’s Chapel Situated within the grounds and dating back to the 12th century, St. Catherine’s Chapel was dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandra, the patron saint of young women and education. Whilst only school staff and former students can legally marry here, this enchanting chapel is available to all for wedding blessings.
The Italian Gardens The Italian Gardens provide a tranquil and picturesque setting for your wedding. The manicured gardens, stunning pavilions, archways, fountains and pergola provide the perfect setting for a drinks reception and photographs. The Italian Gardens are available all year round, however they are particularly attractive and inviting during the Summer months.
Larger Celebrations Westonbirt School also offers the flexibility to host much larger weddings in our extensive grounds. Through the addition of a marquee of your choice on our lower level terrace, with the house as a dramatic backdrop, 500 guests or more may easily be accommodated.
