O
n March 3, 1852, twelve men—A.J. Burgess, Isaac P. Cowden, William Dickey, Thomas Dungan, D.H. Goodwillie, S.T. Heron, David Houston, D.R. Imbrie, Edward McElree, J.P. Ramsey, G.C. Vincent and J.D. Wolfe—met in New Wilmington to establish an institution of higher learning. That institution became Westminster College, and these men became the College’s first Board of Trustees. Since that day, financial gifts from individuals and organizations have played a crucial role in the development of the College. Throughout the years, alumni and friends have made gifts that have enabled the College to carry out its mission of providing a quality, meaningful education to all people—regardless of gender, race, religion or economic status. This Honor Roll of Giving is Westminster’s opportunity to thank those who have demonstrated their support of the College’s mission through generous financial contributions. Thanks to these donors, Westminster is granted the resources necessary to provide students with an education that challenges them intellectually and prepares them for lives in a rapidly-changing global environment.
