It was like olden times with pens put down the evening before and sheep arriving in the village early in the morning. There was a great buzz around the place all day long and the place really filled with laughter and excitement when the children arrived off the school bus in the evening for the Fancy Dress Parade and the Pet show in O’Dwyers yard. A cute ram lamb named chops held by his owner Sonny Flaherty, Derrymore was the winner of the Pet Show. The Parade around the village was led by our own local musicians Milo O Brien and James Allman and Camp children and the costumes were fantastic, again even the ICA ladies got dressed up for the occasion. And one pen of sheep stood out on the day, themed Star Wars alias Camp Wars was the artistic creation of Breda Quirke, Anne Eager and Eileen O Shea and needless to say it won a prize. Paddy Kennedy, Maum and New York sold the first pen of sheep on the fair morning. Milo O’Brien’s pen of sheep was judged the Best overall of the day.
