CAMP NOTES Brigid O Connor Congratulations to Sean Scannell and Sandra Daw, Ballinknockane, Camp who were married recently in London. Sean returned this year to the ancestral home of his father, local Camp footballer of yesteryear, fondly known as “Sikie Scannell and he and Sandra have set up home on Camp Height overlooking an amazing vista of sea and sand ! May you both enjoy health, happiness and good times in Camp ! Fáilte abhaile !! Table Quiz Camp United Quiz held at Mike and Anne O Neills, Railway Tavern was a great success. €800 was raised for the club. Our new quizmaster Gearóid O Shea did a mighty job and Uncle Séan’s questions were as always real brainteasers ! Well done, Gearóid ! The Club would like to thank everybody who supported on the night, who sponsored raffle prizes or contributed in any way. They got some great scores and played with lots of skill and determination. Obituary The news of the death of Therese Cronin, Kanturk and Shore Acre Caravan Park, Camp was received with sadness over the weekend. Therese and her husband Con and family were regular visitors to Camp over the last 40 years making lasting friendship in the locality. Many local people travelled to the funeral in Kanturk on Sunday and Monday to pay their last respects to Therese. Therese was laid to rest in Clonfert Cemetary, Kanturk on Monday following requiem Mass in The Church of The Immaculate Conception, Kanturk. Rest In Peace. Sympathy is extended to Con and all the family.

25 Years since West Kerry Senior & Minor Teams Won County Championship Double 25 years ago in 1990 West Kerry won the Senior County Championship Final by defeating Mid Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney. This team Captained by Annascaul’s Pat Flahive and Trained by the great Páidí Ó Sé will be honoured at half time in this year’s County Final. 1990 was a special year for West Kerry as the West Kerry Minors also won the Minor County Championship Final and to celebrate 25 years from this historic double victory the West Kerry Board along with the Kerry County Board will be hosting both the West Kerry Senior Team and the West Kerry Minor Team from 1990 at a special function in the Dingle Skellig Hotel on next Saturday the 31st October. This promises to be a great night and indeed it is fitting that sweet victories like these are remembered.
