Full refunds will be given up to 48 hours in advance of program start date. There will be a $10 administration fee if you withdraw from a program after 48 hours.

• Refunds will not be issued after the beginning of the third class.

• Medical refunds (full/partial) will be considered for all programs anytime with a doctor’s note. exception: eagle adventure summer day camp (non-medical). Refunds will ONLY be granted with a minimum of 7 Full days notice. Example: Notify before 3:00pm Sunday, July 7 for a July 15-19 cancellation.

reserved lane swim: Reserve starting Fridays at 8:30am for the upcoming week. Max of three active spots/week.

** Pool facilities (main pool, hot tub, steam room) closed to public.

descriptions:

lane swim: Fast, medium or slow lane. No water walking.

aqua Fitness: For a detailed schedule of classes, please see page 19. public swim: All children under 7yrs must be accompanied by a responsible adult (16yrs +) and be within arms reach at all times. No lane available M/W during evening public swim. parent & tot swim: Beach area/round pool available. (Round pool unavailable during classes.) Children under 6yrs only, accompanied by an adult (16yrs +).

aqua yoga: Round pool closed to public. See page 22 for details. adult spa: Adults (18yrs +) only, hot tub and steam room available. Masters swim: Masters Swim Club will be using half the pool Tu/Th from 8:00-9:00pm. one single lane will be available for public use.

all children under 7yrs must be within arm’s reach of a responsible adult (16yrs +) at all times in/and around the pool.

We expect adults with children to:

• actively engage with children in the water. ie: Safely enter and exit the water, maintain sight and attention of children in your care.

• encourage the safe use of all equipment Such as: slides, diving boards, mats and boats.

• help lifeguards enforce safety pool rules

Support facility rules such as: no running, no standing on or diving off mats.

• encourage safety skills. Teach children to wait for an adult when they come to water. ie: Stop, Look and Listen.

i started judo at nine years old and now have over 25 years of judo involvement and my second Dan Black Belt (Nidan). i was a Manitoba Provincial champion and represented the province in various national and international competitions. For the past seven plus years i’ve been a Head Coach at the Kelowna Judo Club. A year ago, Ryan and i started coaching Little Samurai and Kid’s Judo classes here at JBMAC. These classes have proven to be very popular, so we are expanding this spring! i am married with two young boys ages five and two which means home life is busy. However, i still find time to snowshoe in the winter and paddle board in the summer.

Your son/ daughter will have the opportunity to volunteer alongside staff in either or both of our preschool or school aged camps held at Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre in July and/or August. Schedules are set based on availability and personal interest. We prefer one week block commitments if possible.

i started judo at 23 years old and trained with the Vancouver Police Dept at Simon Fraser university. i presently have my Brown Belt, but i am working on crossing the T’s and dotting the i’s to earn my first dan Black Belt (shodan). Judo is known as the “gentle way” which is why i believe it is the best marital art for kids to begin their marital arts journey. Marko and i are very excited to be coaching Little Samurai and Kid’s Judo on the west side at JBMAC. i am married with two boys ages eight and eleven who are both participating in our judo program at the pool.

Spend quality time with your child while you both have fun, learn, and socialize. Through structured inwater interactions, we stress the importance of play in developing water positive attitudes and abilities. As children progress in age and development, they will be challenged with new skill sets. All levels are agebased, and parent participation is mandatory.

The Swim for Life Preschool program teaches preschoolers the basics of swimming through games, songs, activities, and drills. An emphasis is placed on providing Water Smart opportunities so children can make smart decisions in and around water. This is a fun 5-level, play-based program for preschoolers.

This level provides more technical practice with front and back crawl. Whip kicks on the back are introduced and evaluated for 10-metres. Swimmers are taught to make wise choices on where and when to swim. Diving is introduced and endurance is built through interval training.

Endurance is evaluated through a 300-metre swim. Swimmers work on sprints for short distances and have increased distance swims for front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke, refining their techniques and developing efficiency. swimmers increase their knowledge in lifesaving skills by learning all three lifesaving kicks and performing a 10-metre underwater swim to recover a submerged object.

Swimmer 7: Rookie Patrol

swimmer 7, also known as Rookie Patrol, is the first of the Canadian Swim Patrol’s three-level preparation program for the Bronze medal awards. Challenges include:

• developing swimming skills through sprint work and endurance.

• Working on lifesaving and first aid techniques.

• surface dives, object supports, lifesaving kick, and self-rescues are taught and evaluated.

• choking rescues on oneself and others are taught and evaluated

the final level before entering the lifesaving society’s Bronze medal programs is Swimmer 9, also known as Star Patrol. Challenges include:

• a 600-metre workout combining a warm-up, stroke drills, speed work, and cool down

• a 300-metre swim

• enter the water with an aid, swim 25-metres and tow a victim back to their point of origin, and carry a 10lb object using legs only for 25-metres

• Recognize and care for a person experiencing a severe allergic reaction.

Beginner, intermediate and advanced techniques and skills are taught in these fun, challenging lessons. The instructor will discuss your goals and skill level on the first day and then tailor the lessons to best meet each swimmer’s individual needs.

Bronze Medallion 13yrs + (J/B)

This 20-hour course teaches self-rescue techniques, defense, and release methods, tows and carries. Rescues include conscious and unconscious victims of various types, including spinal injuries and circulatory emergencies. Endurance is evaluated though a 400-metre timed swim.

Fee includes the canadian lifesaving Manual. pre-req’s: Bronze Star, or 13yrs by the last day of the course. Swimmer 9 abilities recommended.
