Heralding a new era of comfortable & enhanced rail travel experience, Western Railway has rolled out the red carpet for the new Vande Bharat Express. This new & upgraded version of Vande Bharat Express will run between Gandhinagar Capital & Mumbai, connec�ng the state capitals of Gujarat & Maharashtra. This modern Semi High Speed Train is one of the next major leaps for Indian Railways on the parameters of superior designs, interiors and speed, providing the passengers a pleasant travel experience. The Gandhinagar Capital-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express offers a myriad of such superior ameni�es which will provide passengers with aircra� like travelling experience & advanced state-of-the-art safety features including KAVACH technology.
Vande Bharat Express is a self-propelled Semi-High Speed train set. This train has been indigenously made under the ‘Make in India’ ini�a�ve. The Vande Bharat Express train has a 16 coach Chair Car configura�on, having a stainless steel car body & a sea�ng capacity of 1128. Bogies with fully suspended trac�on motors for 160 kmph opera�onal speed has been provided. The advanced state of the art suspension system ensures smooth and safe journey & enhanced riding comfort for passengers with 3.5 riding index.
Vande Bharat Express has two driver cab coaches on both ends which enable quicker turn-around �me at des�na�ons.
The aerodynamic shape (nose cone) of the driver cab will save energy requirement significantly by reducing air drag. It also gives the train a sleek & futuris�c look.
Vande Bharat Express has con�nuous windows which enhance the aesthe�cs of the train. The colour scheme of the train as well as the interiors have been developed to keep in line with the overall theme of a modern train set.
The train has superior passenger ameni�es such as On-board Wi-Fi infotainment, GPS based passenger informa�on system, plush interiors, bio-vacuum toilets with touch free ameni�es, diffused LED ligh�ng, charging points beneath every seat, individual touch based reading lights and concealed roller blinds. Be�er heat ven�la�on and air-condi�oning system with UV lamp for germ free supply of air. The intelligent air-condi�oning system adjusts the cooling according to the climate condi�ons/occupancy.
Vande Bharat Express also incorporates many advanced safety measures. This train is equipped with KAVACH - an indigenously developed Train Collision Avoidance System.
Emergency Alarm Bu�on and Emergency Talk Back Units have been provided through which passengers can talk to crew in case of exigencies. CCTVs are provided in all coaches for safe and secure travel. It also has Pla�orm side cameras including rear view cameras outside the coach.
Another prominent feature of Vande Bharat Express is that all coaches are inter-connected by fully sealed gangways. The outer fairing of gangway has also been designed in such a manner so that it reduces the air drag.
Reclining seats in all classes while the Execu�ve Coaches have the added feature of 1800 rota�ng seats.
Divyang-friendly washrooms and seat handles with seat numbers in Braille le�ers have been provided.
Every alternate coach is motorized, to ensure even distribu�on of mo�ve power and faster accelera�on/decelera�on. The star�ng accelera�on of Vande Bharat Express is 0.7m/sec2 that will reduce running �me by 10 to 15%. All the equipment is controlled by Vehicle Control Computer (VCC) which in turn communicate with control units on individual coaches through ethernet backbone.
The brake system is electro pneuma�c with brake discs mounted directly on wheel discs, which reduces the braking distance. Fully suspended trac�on motors are of 3 Phase Induc�on type. The 3-Phase IGBT based propulsion system is developed indigenously.
The train has been designed to increase Indian Railways' Green footprint by dispensing with the power cars and saving about 30% electricity with advanced regenera�ve braking system.
Vande Bharat trains are being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. These trains cos�ng approximately `100 crore, is about half the price of a similar imported train. In keeping with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Make in India’, major systems of the train have been designed and built in India. The new Vande Bharat Express introduced between Gandhinagar Capital & Mumbai Central, is the third Vande Bharat train in the country, the other two being run between New Delhi – Varanasi & New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
