We are known for untapped locations, resources, variety, close proximity to Vancouver and Whistler, along with a network of strong community contacts. Our diverse locations include pristine lakes, rivers, pacific north west forests, hiking and single-track trails, large industrial sites, sweeping valleys, oceanfront with beach locales, easily accessible spectacular rock climbing routes, majestic mountain peaks, winding roads with treed canopies and numerous unique locations that continue to attract features and commercials. Highlights of Squamish’s Natural Wonders: Howe Sound- North America’s southernmost fjord The Stawamus Chief - the second largest granite monolith in the world Shannon Falls- the third highest falls in BC Sea to Sky Highway – 5th most scenic drive in the world Other Highlights: World Class Windsurfing, World Class Rock Climbing, Eagle Watching, Golf Courses, Yacht Club, West Coast Railway Heritage Park, CN Rail yards, Industrial sites, Rural, residential and commercial neighbourhoods Downtown Squamish is so versatile that it has been dressed to look like small town USA from Alaska to California to New England! Locations galore are available, ranging from city hall to the fire hall and police station, ferry docks, marinas and diners! Squamish Municipal Council’s priority is to support the film industry. A central one-stop service to meet all your needs is in place at city hall to assist production companies. Arrangements from business licenses to traffic control to a hydrant permit can be coordinated through our film liaison. Knowledgeable and friendly staff will assist scouts with regulation and licensing requirements, coordination of municipal and property or services request, suggestions for film and circus locations, and identification of property owners. To ensure positive experiences for you and for the community, the District works with the production company during prep and shooting. The District of Squamish has developed a reputation as a “film friendly” community – come work and play in the “Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada”.
