Meetings conducted with each principal seven times during the school year Two formal observations of each principal Bi-weekly meetings with new principals to provide guidance and mentoring to provide meaningful feedback toward individual goals

WECP Union - Secretaries’ Class • • • •

Classroom assistants met to learn aspects of secretarial positions Classes are required for persons wishing to apply for secretarial positions Course series consist of seven one-hour sessions Sample interviews were conducted to enhance interview skills

2017 - 2018 Professional Development A Co-Taught Model

In this class you will see how the special education and regular education teacher collaboratively work together to maximize instructional time on task. We will discuss and demonstrate how we differentiate between a 2 period double dose model and a single period traditional co-taught model. Our demonstration will be math focused, but with an open mind, you may determine how this model could be tweaked for any discipline.

Pupil Services Personnel Training •

Conducted district-wide training for all special education teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and supervisors in the utilization of the new State IEP (Individualized Education Plans) and ETR (Evaluation Team Report) forms

Participated in a county-wide compliance training conducted by the Ohio Department of Education as it related to students at Broadmoor - Meet regularly with members from ODE ESC department to review and adjust special education practices to align more closely with compliancy demands from IDEA - Conducted trainings for appropriate district employees to train on findings from this compliance experience

Worked with community agencies and private care providers to alert staff as to what symptoms of mental health may present in the classroom

Brought in a national research company from Boston to work with a select group of middle school teachers on a STEM based project that focused on the development of games with a concentration around the science grade level standards

Mental Health Services •

Ongoing work with Crossroads to expand district services - Examining ways to increase number of days the district is able to have mental health providers in each building - Exploring alternatives to blend clinical model of providing mental health to patients with educational model while remaining cost effective to district

Collaboration with Laurelwood to establish an expedited mental health assessment for guidance counselors in secondary schools - Counselors have access to “ZOOM,” a free program in which students in crisis can be evaluated by a professional at Laurelwood to determine necessary level of care - Improved communication and partnership to transition students after receiving inpatient care

Collaboration with the Curriculum Department • •

Blended services from Title I, intervention specialists and related service staff to construct a push-in literacy model in grades K to 3 Worked to implement the district’s second annual KIDS First Night, an evening for students transitioning from preschool to kindergarten to participate in readiness activities

Improved Discipline Outcomes for Students with Disabilities • • •

Procedures were reviewed and updated to improve discipline outcomes Conducted book study for building administrators and psychologists to look at determining the “why” behind behavior Conducted professional development - a Board Certified Behavior Therapist conducted in-services with staff regarding “communication behind the behavior”

Health Clinic Tracking Software •

Beginning in 2017 -2018 school year, clinics use the free services from Caredox - Caredox notifies parents each time their child is seen in a school clinic via email - Nurses and parents are able to access health information electronically from any location - The district is working with Caredox to begin free immunizations for students

Transportation Changes •

Free transportation to typically developing preschool students as well as special needs students increased attendance and afforded the opportunity of preschool to those unable to attend

Established, Expanded and Developed Educational Programming • • •

Expanded and improved PBIS programs - several schools received awards Created our own Extended School Year (ESY) programs to increase time on task 98 students attended ESY in the Summer of 2018 and 75 additional students (who are on an IEP/504) will attend Summer Learning Camp
