Moro Ambassadors ONE Travel to Brazil to THOUSAND attend World Cup Finals

EGYPTIAN SELFIESIN

SPONSORED BY MORO A team of 4 Egyptian students have travelled to Brazil to attend the final match and closing ceremony of the World Cup. The four students are Moro ambassadors representing thousands of Egyptian football fans and Moro lovers, many of whom have sent their “Selfies” which were imprinted on a giant banner that accompanied the ambassadors to Brazil. The huge banner, with nearly one thousand Egyptian selfies, has been raised high in the most beautiful areas of Rio de Janeiro, in a symbolic gesture acknowledging those thousands of fans who wanted to be there for the final match. The team, originally from the German University in Cairo, had recently won “Moro’s Trampoline Dodgeball tournament in Egyptian Universities.” The tournament was held for the first time in Egypt last March under the auspices of Moro. The winning team

members have flown to Brazil last week to fulfill the dream of being a part of the historic sporting event which only takes place once every four years. “The World Cup is one of the most important sporting events in the world. Attending it, especially the final match and closing ceremony, is like a dream come true and a unique experience that will remain carved in memory. Therefore we wanted our ambassadors, as representatives of millions of Moro fans who weren’t able to travel, to be there. We know it is almost everyone’s dream to be a part of that great event and we tried hard to come with an idea as to give the chance to more fans to be in Brazil, even if symbolically. So, we came up with this idea of printing a giant banner with 1000 “Selfies” of Egyptian football fans, that the Moro Ambassadors would take with them

BRAZIL

to Brazil, enabling thousands of Moro lovers to symbolically take part in this great event”, Said Doaa Salah, Chocolate Marketing Manager for Mondelëz Foods, Egypt and Levant. Commenting on the trip, members of the German University team said: “As ambassadors of Moro in Brazil, we feel a great responsibility and a sense of fellowship towards the fans who were keen on being a part of this magnificent event and those who sent their pictures wishing to be a part of the one Thousand Selfies initiative. This banner symbolically represents a part of Egypt and we raised it in Brazil in the name of our country and on behalf of our fellow Egyptians on this occasion. We would like to thank Moro for this unique opportunity and we will work hard to live up to Moro lovers’ expectations.”

THE EDGE After this Ramadan was over with its religious rituals, fun gatherings, TV serials and even ads, the thing that caught my attention the most is how our society turned to the two extremes. If you watch the ads continuously for five minutes, you will notice how it turns from the most luxurious compounds and resorts to the exact next ad, where people can barley survive and find food in the trash for a quick unsatisfying meal, or waiting on a long line to find a cure from a disease that most likely they caught because of the lack of any basic human living conditions one can bare. This huge gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger and bigger in a very provocative way that makes an outsider feel that Egypt is formed of two countries; one that is full of prosperity and you can really mistake it with any of the European countries, where each person has his own 4x4 car, villa and a place by the sea, while the other country is full of disparate souls, who are trying to provide for their children and their ultimate goal in life is to find money to build a ceiling to the so-called home they live in or a cure to the multiple diseases that are eating them from inside out. The huge class gap in Egypt and the disappearance of the middle class might result into sever consequences that will affect the rich before the poor, and maybe ruin this country for good. I can’t forget the shock and shivers I felt

in one of the master scenes of ‘Segn El Nesa’ TV serial when ‘Reda,’ the maid (played by Ruby) burnt the girl she serves alive because of how deprived she felt. Shocking as it was, this scene was like an alarm to us, to governors and to the whole Egyptian society that once we reach the edge (which we are not really tremendously far from) ‘Reda,’ the maid alikes will revolt, this time not for democracy or freedom of expression like 25th of January, it will be a revolution full of anger, wrath and chaos. A revolution for people who were deprived for years from living a human life while seeing others next door celebrating life to the maximun and getting richer and richer. The role of art is to predict the future and depict shocking scenery of how the future would be from an author’s perspective to help us all wake up and realize what we might be heading to. The cure might not be in our hands, it might require governmental reformations, but we as individuals might help in bringing the gap a little closer by treating those people in a more humane way, not like animals or beasts who one should avoid contact with. There will always be poor and rich (that is how life was made), but bringing the gap a little bit closer or devoting little time, efforts and money for helping those who were deprived might save us from reaching the edge.

THE UGLY TRUTH

ARE EGYPTIAN MEN TOO a

SHALLOW?

ll men have a certain appreciation for beauty and to most of them it comes as a priority when choosing their significant other, but does this pursuit of perfection keeps trapping us girls even after marriage? Does it feel humiliating when you find yourself being compared to models on TV or to celebrities? This month Maha Adel goes behind locked doors to trace with us the Egyptian man’s criteria when searching for Ms. Right and how it might affect his life negatively.

Due to the increase in prices, the difficulty of living and the multi-things that a groom needs to provide, many men don’t get married until they reach their 30’s and 40’s. I have to point that these are not the only reasons, but the high expectations of the ridiclous demands that men ask for in a woman. Nowadays, you find a 30 years old man who has a great job and gets paid really well yet, is looking for a wife through his friends. And here comes his list of demands: a girl with a good background, good manners, religious, stylish and then you get shocked to hear “I’d love to marry someone like Kinda Alloush, Jumana Mourad, or a combination of Nancy Agram and Haifa Wahby!” And, again of course, he keeps looking for that imaginary wife that is only real in his mind. Many young men were not shy to express their deep wish to marry one of those sexy attractive feminine stars, although they know it is definitely a dream yet, they keep searching for look alikes or a close enough copy of them. This is the case for some of the men who haven’t found their soul mates, and so they get trapped in their dreams till they hit their 30’s and 40’s. Egyptian women are also affected by the feminine sexy super stars; they try to imitate them to please their husbands. However, pregnancy and delievery ruin all of their efforts with the extra weight they carry. She also

LOUNGE 30

starts to focus on her baby caring less for her appearance. But, if she is a working woman, she would be lucky to at least find the time to shower, of course it’s difficult with the baby, the household shores, and the husband. The husband finds himself living with an ugly tired woman who is getting older everyday because of her responsibilities, and of course he is always busy too to help his wife, he only has the time to play with the baby. I am not saying that this is the case with all men and women, but what I am trying to show here is the influence of the western technology on us. And that’s when women start asking themselves “Where is mutual love? Mutual help? Why doesn’t he help me so I can have enough time to take care of my appreacnce and myself?”

Most men do nothing except complain about how ugly and fat their wives have become. Women reach the point of depression and they start to hate themselves. The husband starts watching chicks on television comparing them to their wives, and at times they even give remarks about it to their wives neglecting their feelings. On the other side, women think their husbands are shallow, and so they start to disrespect, and hate them, and consequently start to eat more to ease the pain and the stress. The question for men is: Do you see yourself looking like George Clooney, Johny depp or Vin Diesel? Are you the kind of man who can handle responsibilities like your wife does? Did she ever mention how fat or bold or smelly you are? Has she ever blamed you for not having

time to help her? The answers are pretty much ‘No,’ she respects you because you are her soulmate, she chose you not to compare you to other men, but to love you with all what she got as long as you both shall live for better or worse as you mentioned in your wedding vows. Did you try to help her look sexier, younger and brighter? Did you offer to take the kids for a while till she goes to the spa or the hair dresser? Did you feel how broken she is and how she needs to be loved and respected as before? Did you think that when she looks at her wedding photos she cries because she misses her old body and her bright face? Real men encourage their wives to improve psychologically and physically, a real man

would go and buy his wife some makeup, a treadmill to lose weight, new clothes and gifts to encourage her. He would appreciate her tiredness, her long nights with the children and her difficult long mornings at work. Real men would love their wives no matter how they look and will always express that. A real man will make his wife the prettiest and happiest woman and this will reflect on her smile and looks. She would want to please him by any means and will push herself to find the time to care about herself. On the contrary, an immature so-called man will destroy his wife psychologically because he is too selfish to notice her problems, responsibilities and her needs. He will only mention how ugly she has become and how

fat she is in clothes; he will make fun of her whenever he gets a chance socially in front of her and his friends and family. He will forget how a good wife she is, and only focus on her weaknesses and pushes her until she reaches the point of hating herself and disrespecting him, and eventually they get divorced. These types of men are unreal men, they actually don’t make good husbands and sometimes they don’t make good fathers as well. This type of man might live with the dream of a second wife who is sexy as Haifa Wahby and Scarlet Johansson. And so, I suggest that the only way a man would grow up, face reality and notice his wife is by letting him go, after a while, he will learn the lesson and realise what true responsibility is and what building a home with a wife means.

er first appearance in last year’s Ramadan ‘Sharbat Louz’ made us fall in love with her performance. This year starlet Riham Haggag won a lot of praise for her acting skills in the exquisite TV serial ‘Segn El Nesa’ playing the role of local Egyptian girl ‘Nowara,’ and playing the role of the president’s daughter ‘Menna’ in ‘El Sayda El Ola.’ Amira Tharwat asks the Milan born actress, about the role, fashion and her upcoming projects.

You were born in Milan, how did this affect your personality and acting skills? Thank God, it didn’t affect my acting skills at all, as you can see I was able to play the role of a very local Egyptian girl in ‘Segn El Nesa.’ You spoke to Lounge when you first started your career in acting deciding to leave your day job as a Marketing Manager, do you feel it was the right decision? Yes, I guess so (smiles). Actually, I didn’t leave my previous career as a Marketing Manager, I am still studying for my MBA as well as marketing in Italy, and I go every year to have my exam there, so I didn’t really leave my original career entirely. How were you offered your role in ‘Segn El Nesaa?’ By the director of the serial, Kamla Abou Zekri. From an aristocratic girl to a very local Egyptian, how was the shift? I read the script really well, my problem was not that it’s a local girl, which I played for the first time, my problem was that ‘Nowara’ is a very complicated, evil and difficult character. You mentioned in various interviews that there are a lot of girls who are willing to ditch their best friend for a guy, have you personally witnessed such cases? There aren’t really too many girls who do that, but still it happens; however, it didn’t really happen to me because I am very picky when it comes to my close friends, there are only 3 to 4 girls whom I would call close friends.

Having played both ‘Nowara’ in ‘Segn El Nesa’ and ‘Menna’ in ‘El Sayeda El Ola,’ do you find it challenging for an actress to have two serials in one season? On the contrary, I was insisting to play two different characters in one season; a local girl and the president’s daughter. I think it’s more challenging and fun for any actor especially when the two characters are totally different. Being the daughter of the president in ‘El Sayda el Ola,’ how do you see the political scene nowadays? Thank God, compared to the countries around us we are doing great, I was concerned in the past, but now I feel that Egypt is in safe hands and I am totally satisfied. Did you vote in the previous political elections? Yes I did and gave my vote to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Are you optimistic about Egypt’s future? Yes, very optimistic and I feel that we took our first step on the right direction to make this country head to a better situation. What are the serials you enjoyed watching the most? Unfortunately, I didn’t watch anything yet because I was shooting ‘Segn El Nesa,’ which ended towards the end of Ramadan, but I heard of many good serials that I would be keen to watch later on including, ‘Gabal El Halal’ and ‘Dahsha,’ which is a very respectable serial, I loved the direction, the script and the acting. Who are the foreign stars you aspire to? I don’t see myself as any foreign celebrity; on the contrary, I looked disgusting in the role of ‘Nowara’ (laughs). However, if I aspire to anyone, my favourite actress would be

Angelina Jolie; I love everything about her. If you were offered a role in the international cinema in Italy or Hollywood, would you be eager to do it? Of course, I actually was offered to play a role in an Italian film, pointing that my Italian might be better than my Arabic, but the role was full of daring scenes that doesn’t match my religious beliefs or Egyptian moral code, so I couldn’t take part in it. What are the things you can’t leave home without? Hair clips; I can’t leave home without them, and gum (laughs). As for makeup in general, I don’t put makeup on at all when I go out except when I am really going to a lavish party, l would only wear some lipstick, and of course my mobile and its charger. Are you computer oriented? I have an account on facebook and twitter,

and I am happy about it as it allows me to communicate to my fans and know their opinion about the roles I play. Who are your favourite designers and perfume? I love Cavali, Miu Miu, and Dolce & Gabanna. As for local designers, I like Nicolas Jobran and Elie Saab. My favourite perfume is Dolce & Gabanna number three, and 212 by Carolina Herrera. What is your favouiate place for relaxation? El Gouna and abroad I love Italy, would love to go to Thailand though. Any silver screen plans? I am working on various projects, but the one I am expecting to come out soon is ‘Soaa Tafahom’ with Cyrine Abdel Nour, Ahmed El Sadanny and Sherif Salama, and I am still reading other scripts.

The Garden Bar & Grill

IN KORBA

Heliopolis has always been known for its specific significance as one of the most ancient and decent destinations in Cairo, especially Korba; however, something was always missing. Thanks to founders of ‘The Garden Bar & Grill,’ Heliopolis citizens will have the luxury of celebrating in one of the top hotspots in Cairo now without running through the hassel of crossing 6th of October bridge for ‘Tamarai,’ or to have to go as far as Maadi to have a nice outing.

What distinguished ‘The Garden’ apart from its wide variety of beverages and big menu is the design of the place. Architect Ahmed Fikry, Designer of ‘The Garden,’ told us that the design brings the nostalgic feeling to the green nature compromised with modern statements to give stunning timeless design. The exterior green walls & plants of the landscape, and the original brick work give the continuous and uninterrupted organic sense, the wall bricks are in synchronization with the warm lightening of the back bar, as well as the led illuminated shelves of the front

bar. The minimalistic light fixtures and the wood profiles decoration at the inside walls, the red & brown tones spreading the warm authentic and the inviting feeling of the place. The owners of ‘The Garden’ are very selective about their visitors, which caused a lot of controversy since its opening a couple of months ago, as you have to book in advance and allow the reservation team to befriend you on facebook to check your profile. A little demanding, but its considered as a mean of security especially these days, this criteria applied in various top notch places in the city.

Launching FemtoLazer, an Evolution Led by Magrabi

In a country that chose to rise up, develop and modernize in all aspects, the health sector is on the top list of Egypt’s revival. With this strategy in mind, Magrabi Hospitals and Centers are leading their on-going growth in fighting cataract in Egypt and the Middle East. Being one of the most threatening causes for blindness, cataract is a common cause of impaired vision in old age and sometimes in younger people too. The word ‘cataract’ comes from the Latin for waterfall. People used to think it was caused by a flow of fluid from the brain into the pupil of the eye forming a white membrane there. In fact it is the lens of the eye becoming opaque and often hard usually as a result of age. This causes progressively poorer sight and, if untreated, no sight. The treatment is cataract surgery and now to revolutionize the process;Magrabi is launching the Femto-Laser device in a press conference attended by prominent ophthalmologists. The role of femtosecond lasers in cataract surgery is to assist or replace several aspects of the manual cataract surgery.

Capricorn Dec.23 - Jan.20 The first part of August 2014 will offer you excellent sentimental perspectives. You’ll have a great need for affection and at the same time a great power to seduce. You’ll adjust to the other’s wishes easily, you’ll be more receptive and more cooperative. If you don’t have a relationship yet, the desire to build one will now grow. The second part of August 2014 will be more discreet in manifestations, but could be richer at the subtle level. You will now have the capacity to analyze and to understand how some deep aspects, some private mechanisms (or even secret) of the relationship or of the psychology of the dear person work. You’ll have good affective intuition. August 2014 seems to be quite an active month at the financial level for you. It’s possible that you’ll get business or investment ideas, that you’ll purchase a durable good or simply that you’ll benefit from extra income, from gifts or other material advantages. Chance will most likely come through parents or through the partner.

Aquarius Jan.21 - Feb.19 August 2014 will be a real festival from the point of view of relationships. In the first place, you can rely on the generosity and chance. All throughout August 2014, you won’t have any reasons to complain about getting bored. This month will have great capacity to mark you out with the good parts that you have but also caution, with the less good parts also. It’ll be a month full of ambitions, which will stimulate the organization spirit, competitiveness, initiative and the combative spirit. In your wish to impose, you might be forced to make some radical decisions, maybe unwanted ones, and you might also have a rebellious behaviour, which your bosses or authorities might not like. Fortunately, you’ll benefit from valuable collaborators and allies. Relationships will have an essential role throughout the month and the cooperation with the others might prove to be very fruitful, both at the level of the image and at the financial level.

Pisces Charlize Theron, August 7, 1975

Feb.20 - Mar.21 A wave of sensuality will cross your sentimental life in the first part of August 2014. It’ll be a happy placement, which will bring you romanticism, lust for gallant adventures, erotic satisfaction and particularly favourable opportunities for the appearance of love. This month will be generous as regards fun of all kinds, which can have a stimulating role in the development of the sentimental life. Your love will also be related to work in a way: maybe a workmate will try to start an affair with you at the office, maybe your professional life will be influenced by feelings or maybe it will be about sharing daily tasks within the couple, etc. If you’re not on holiday or on a leave of absence, in August 2014 you can have great professional satisfactions. You’ll have a lot of work capacity, you’ll like your job, you’ll have control over the field of activity (autonomy, power of decision, creative freedom) and you’ll also come across unexpected opportunities. You will have the opportunity to glow, to admirably make use of their skills.

At last, chance will come to Aries people! In August 2014 is a glorious month that will be in store for you. There will be a great sentimental and sexual opening and the Universe will be filled with romantic tunes and will create the most favorable opportunities for you to meet love, to enjoy the pleasures of the senses and to feel happy. Also, August 2014 seems to be an ambitious month in which you’ll focus on the professional objectives very well and in which money will be the main topic of interest for Aries people. You seem to be very determined, which is good; however, you’d better not rush but act strategically and diplomatically. Think long and hard before taking financial risks, launching into investments and taking out loans! Also, it is recommended that you avoid speculation and easy money.

Taurus

Gemini

Apr.21 - May 21

May.22 - Jun.21

August 2014 is a month that needs to be approached cautiously. This month can bring a burdening atmosphere, a tendency towards inflexible attitudes, towards conflicts or other unwanted events. It’s possible that some of these unwanted events will not affect the relationships between you and your partners, but that they will force them to face some difficult situations beyond their control. It is also possible that your partner will go through difficult moments. August 2014 will not be the most favourable period to start new relationships: either there will be impassable barriers, or the relationships built now can have a negative impact later. On the other hand, if you’ve been in a complicated, confining, unhappy or inappropriate relationship for some time, it might be time to make a radical decision as it is concerned.

Everything will gravitate towards communication. In August 2014, your relationships will depend on words, will build around them, will be nurtured by them. You’ll be attracted to people that you share opinions with, and a word at the right time and place or a meaningful message can give birth to the whirl of passion. In your turn, you’ll have a captivating and fluent discourse that will help you conquer. You’ll fascinate by ideas, conversation, messages. It is also possible that your relationships involve an intense exchange of letters, walks, dates or even some trips. Shared intellectual interests can lead to a sentimental relationship as well. There will be chances for you to meet somebody that will mean a lot to you. August 2014 will be the ideal time to set the wheels in motion with your partner or to discuss the sore aspects of the couple.

Jun.22 - Jul.23

Jul.24 - Aug.23

This month the sentimental enthusiasm seems to have calmed down and the expectations of the relationship will come down back to reasonable sizes. However, it still has a lot to say. The first part of the month will generously lend you charm and power to seduce, will give you a cheerful and affectionate mood and will make everything seem easier, more beautiful and more harmonious as regards love, marriage, fun and social relationships. The second and third decan of August 2014 could be more intense and more restless however. At the professional level, there will be opportunities to raise your income, to find new sources of earning money, to get extra income, to receive gifts or other material advantages. The tendency to spend will also increase so you’ll be recommended to conserve your economical spirit.

For one year, you will enjoy optimism, enthusiasm, chance and energy, but also a lot of sexual vigor and lust for adventure, it’s clear that you’ll have a year full of passion too. At the career level, gates to progress and bring opportunities will be greatly opened to you, which can contribute to advancement, enhancement and prosperity if well used. August 2014 will be a month that will promise a lot in this respect, so try to use your chance with both hands. The first two decans in August will be favourable especially to position, authority and prestige, and the second and third decans especially to personal happiness, social relationships, popularity and money. You will be in a fabulous shape all throughout August 2014. They will be able to do anything and reach all their objectives.

Virgo

Libra

Aug.24 - Sep.23

Sep.24 - Oct.23

The first part of August 2014 will favour socialization, parties, gettogethers with friends, involvement with the work of an organization, participation in shows, conferences or camps, and all the activities in general that imply a group, a community, the public. In fact, all this creates an appropriate environment for the birth of love or for the enhancement of Virgo’s couple relationship. On the other hand, a friend or rather a female friend can play the role of the mediator or advisor for the matters of a sentimental nature. The second part of August 2014 will be more delicate yet, hidden, secret happiness is also possible. The first part of August will be less active, appropriate for rest or for germination. You can now make the action plan for the fall, you can organize things, take action secretly, diplomatically, preparing the field for reaching the aims.

For the first part of August 2014, there will be the existence of some connections between relationships and career or status: professional decisions influenced by feelings, attraction for people that have a certain position or benefit from popularity. The second part of the month will bring sentimental chance, favoured by socialization or participation in events that involve a group, a community, an auditorium. In such an environment, you might meet somebody that will capture your attention. Anyway, the couple will be preoccupied with financial aspects all throughout the month August 2014. This month will be an excellent period for popularity and support. You’ll have an amazing capacity to polarize attention, to bring the others in your projects, to find supporters and collaborators. Work partnerships and group effort will be the main coordinates of August 2014 for Libra people.

Scorpio

Sagittarius

Oct.24 - Nov.22

Nov.23 - Dec.22

Enjoy yourself as August 2014 will be a beautiful month for Scorpio people in the relationships department. Romantic trips and long-distance relationships (or relationships with somebody that has come from a distance) will be favoured, and shared cultural or spiritual preoccupations will help with tightening sentimental connections. The second decan of August 2014 might bring you a happy event. Finally, things will start moving. And they will move well and usefully. In August 2014, your career life will be the lucky, for which nothing is too difficult, it will make sure you’ll continuously advance until August 2015. There will certainly be success and of course money kept in store. In August 2014, which promises you sentimental and professional satisfactions, your only concern will be to protect your health and physical integrity too.

August 2014 could begin with some piece of news from far away or with a trip with sentimental implications. Distance will generally play an important role in developing yourrelationships in August 2014. It could be about somebody who lives in a different city or even in a different country, about an affair born online, about trips with sentimental flavour. One way or another, love will open new horizons, and not only from the geographic point of view, but also from the intellectual, cultural or spiritual points of view. You will now need somebody by your side to discover the world with or to help you build a new scale of values. August 2014 will be favourable to contacts with the higher education, scientific or cultural environments. Another version would be business trips, collaborations with partners at a distance or maybe an initiative related to tourism or import-export.
