In a resounding testament to the enduring power of philanthropy, The Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts has received a transformative gift of $10 million from the prestigious Wertheim family. This magnificent contribution is set to redefine the landscape of musical education, providing unprecedented resources and opportunities for budding musicians at The Wertheim. With this extraordinary act of generosity, the Wertheim family has solidified their place as instrumental champions of the arts and catalysts for the growth of young talent through scholarships & graduate assistantship opportunities for students and support for faculty, facilities, programming and the FIU Wertheim Marching Band.

They recognize that nurturing the talents of young musicians is not only a gift to the individual students but also a gift to society, enriching the cultural fabric of communities far and wide.

A much-desired musical theatre degree is launching in Fall 2023, and we are well on our way to degrees in music and mindfulness with an Arts in Medicine degree program and a Music Therapy program. These programs will be held in collaboration with the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing This infusion of resources will undoubtedly elevate the School of Music's reputation as a leading institution for musical education, attracting talented individuals from around the world who seek to cultivate their musical talents. The gift will allow the school to focus on strengthening programs to prepare students to acquire a variety of music and arts related jobs.
