Cop allegedly gave service pistol to robbers to burgle police station's guns A 34-year-old female police officer from the Free State was expected to appear in court on Thursday for allegedly conspiring to have people steal firearms from her unit. The constable was arrested on Tuesday in joint a operation by the Hawks and Crime Intelligence and charged with corruption, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and theft. She was expected to appear at the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court. According to Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Lynda Steyn, the officer allegedly approached someone, told them that she had financial problems and that she had guns to sell. The person is alleged to have gone straight to the police who then set up a sting operation. Undercover police officers met with the officer and pretended to want the guns. She allegedly gave them her service pistol and told them to go to her police station, told then where the guns are kept and that they should rob the place. Steyn said the undercover police then left and when they later met with

the woman, they showed her the "stolen" firearms which were in fact their own service pistols. "The suspect was 'paid' R30 000 for her efforts which on receipt led to her downfall She was arrested and her pistol, vehicle and cellphone were seized," Steyn said. The Provincial Head of the Hawks in the Free State, Major General Kubandran Moodley hailed the quick operation saying if the robbery had taken place, it could have led to a catastrophic situation and possible loos of lives. He also expressed his concern regarding "these types of crimes concerning corruption within the SAPS". The Hawk's Major General Moodley conveyed his gratitude to the members of Crime Intelligence and the Hawks, Serious Corruption Unit in both Bloemfontein and Pretoria. He commended them for acting speedily ensuring that no loss of life occurred or "that the firearms ended up in the hands of ruthless criminals".

The diamond is from South Africa, more specifically the Koffiefontein pipe that is known for producing world-class diamonds and operated by the international diamond behemoth Petra

Diamonds. Trapped within the diamond itself is a tiny spec, an inclusion that the diamond grew over and around, trapping it within the diamond’s strong crystal lattice about 105 miles below the surface of the Earth. Inclusions in diamonds are not entirely unusual but they are exciting because it gives a glimpse into the geochemistry of the surrounding molten rock as the diamond formed. The new mineral goldschmidtite, a dark green spec the width of a human hair, has unusual chemical properties. Three sentenced for murder and robbery. BLOEMFONTEIN: Three accused, Bongani Ngxowa (23), Seqebo Lawrence Moeketsi (28) and Phepheng Motlalepule (27) were found guilty for robbery and murder. They were sentenced by Bloemfontein Magistrate court as follows: Bongani was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, Moeketsi to 18 years imprisonment and Motlalepule was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. It was discovered during trial that on the 24 March 2018 at about 04:00 in the morning, a 26-years-old victim, Thabo Sylvester was robbed his cellphone and shoes before he was fatally stabbed. Just like his favourite animal – the sable antelope, which he describes as humble – Xolile Dasheka also had humble beginnings. The only thing that distinguished him from other children growing up in a township about 45 km east of Bloemfontein was probably his fondness of nature. This fire was ignited earlier during his youth as he spent his first few years as the son of agri workers in the Free State. According to Dasheka, his parents, who relocated to Botshabelo in 1979, inspired him to also have his own animals and today this game farmer is an inspiration to many in the industry. So much so that the African Farmers’ Association of South

Africa’s (AFASA) third Agribusiness Transformation Conference was hosted at his farm venue, Imvelo Safari, this week. His farm, situated 25 km outside Bloemfontein on the N6 to Reddersburg, not only boasts game such as sable antelope, springbok, blesbok, blue wildebeest, gemsbok, lechwe, impala, buffalo and zebra, but an upmarket venue and accommodation facilities. More traditional Free State farms, with sheep, cattle and horses grazing in the veld, greet you along the gravel road after taking the turnoff to Imvelo Safari from the N6.
