Life Cycle The Komodo dragon has 3 stages of the life cycle. A komodo dragon first starts out as an egg. When the eggs crack open they then become a hatchling. Then after about 5 years it becomes an adult. A hatchling hides in trees while becoming an adult because climbing trees protects hatchlings from predators.

Females lay 30 eggs at a time.

Hatchlings are 1 foot long when they hatch.

Adults are 10 feet long.
