Wendover’s award of the Best Kept (Small) Town in Buckinghamshire was marked by a small ceremony on the Manor Waste on Saturday 23 September. The award is actually a silver trophy called the Michaelis Cup, which was handed over to members of Wendover Parish Council by a group

Councillor Bill Chapple said “The award is not just about the place, but the community. It’s a reflection of the love and care we have for Wendover.”

From now through to December, as we move closer to completing the construction of temporary realignments of both the A413 London Road and Ellesborough Road, various road works have been rescheduled for the area. Although not always possible, we will endeavour to undertake these works overnight, or during off-peak periods to reduce the impact of road traffic. The current planned road works are as follows, but please note these dates can be subject to change:

• 23 -28 October and 30 October – 4 November: A413 – Overnight lane closures on London Road from 8.30pm – 5.30am for the Phase 1 temporary realignment of the road. Closures will not be imposed during weekends.

• 30 October – 11 November: Ellesborough Road – Full closure of Ellesborough Road in and out of Wendover to install a retaining sheet pile wall, to protect the Memorial Gardens when future works are undertaken.

• 6 November – 22 December: Wendover Bypass – Lane closure and traffic management on the northbound carriageway of the bypass to undertake a high voltage utility diversion and clearance works. The lane closure will apply 24 hours a day.

• 13 – 15 November: Nash Lee Road – Off-peak lane closures for clearance works next to the carriageway.

• 20 – 25 November: Nash Lee Road – Overnight closure to conduct a bridge survey, monitoring and maintenance.

Ellesborough Road update – The full closure to tie-in the new road has been delayed, further details will be published when available.

As previously noted, the A413 London Road is being realigned eastward to enable the construction of one of the piers for the Small Dean Viaduct. Next year the road will be realigned once more before the permanent alignment is constructed. EKFB has produced a video animation of the A413 London Road works showing upcoming work for the construction of Small Dean Viaduct: scan the QR code to access this.
