Covid-19 Heroes
Rotary in Wendover and District (RiW&D) has made a small collection to fund awards for anyone you know who has been a local Covid-19 hero. You will know what this person has been doing but others may not. They may have been just doing their regular job but you will know that they have put to use their own personality and skills to walk the extra mile making a big difference because of their actions. Their regular job could be being a good neighbour in a truly discrete but caring way. To make a nomination, please contact cheryl@monkeypuzzlehighwycombe.co.uk by Wednesday 30 September. Please give: • your own name • the name of your nominee • an indication of what your named hero has done either for an individual or a group of people.

End Polio Now
While the world has been battling with a new pandemic, Rotary has been trying to end a very old one. Since 1985, Rotary’s key humanitarian priority has been to rid the world of polio. Rotary is a key partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) launched in 1988. Today, the number of cases is down by 99.9%. Despite there only being a handful of cases left in the world, continued campaigning, health worker training and vaccination programmes are essential to stop the disease returning and ensuring the world is certified polio-free. Failure to eradicate polio could result in as many as 200,000 new cases worldwide every year within a decade. If you would like to join the fight against polio please contact cheryl@ monkeypuzzlehighwycombe.co.uk
