Welcome to Wenatchee

THE HEART OF WASHINGTON

The Wenatchee Valley boasts a captivating landscape shaped by the majestic Cascade Range to the west, the fertile expanse of the Columbia Plateau to the east, and the powerful Columbia River running through its heart. With an urban area housing around 80,000 residents, the region strikes an ideal balance, offering the conveniences of a larger city while maintaining the warm and inviting atmosphere of a smaller town. Clean, renewable hydropower results in affordable electricity and irrigation, which, in turn, supports a thriving agricultural industry of world-renowned orchards, vineyards, and farms.

Blessed with diverse geographic features, abundant sunshine, and four distinct seasons, the Wenatchee Valley is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts yearround. From recreational activities to sports venues, there is no shortage of opportunities to savor the region's surroundings. As the Valley continues to grow, it serves as a central hub catering to the needs of over 250,000 people in North Central Washington. The area is intimately connected to the bustling Seattle Metro area, only a 2.5hour drive or a short 20-minute flight over the Cascade Range. Other key destinations, such as Spokane and the Tri-Cities, are also within a 2.5hour drive, enabling easy access to almost all of Washington State within a morning's journey.

Wenatchee Valley’s authentic, rooted charm draws visitors to explore and residents to stay. Whether you seek adventure in the mountains, solace by the riverside, or a community to call home—the Wenatchee Valley beckons you to explore, live, work, and play.

HOW CAN YOU SHOW LOVE FOR THIS PLACE?

Wenatchee Valley contains a unique ecosystem of arid desert climate, wild waterways, and pristine forest. We must sustain these natural systems to ensure the outdoors remains a viable playground for all who live and visit here. You can show love for this place by:

Prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of all recreationists.

Preserving the unique beauty of the Wenatchee Valley and the flora and fauna that call it home.

Sharing our passion for the valley and making it a welcoming place for those who live and play here.

SIX WAYS TO SHOW LOVE FOR THIS PLACE

1. Prepare and Stay Aware: Research the area you plan to visit. Pack for all conditions. Tell someone where you are going and when to expect you back.

2. Be A Caring Camper: Make reservations in advance. Only camp in designated areas. When camping in areas without designated sites, give yourself ample daylight to scope out a location and always set up camp at least 100 ft away from water.

3. Recreate Respectfully: Pack it in and pack it out. Trash can take decades to decompose, is unhealthy for wildlife, and impacts the experience for all recreationists. Stick to the trail. Leave it as you find it. Follow leash regulations and pick up after your pets.

4. Keep Wildlife Wild: Give wildlife plenty of space. Never feed wildlife. Always leash your pets around wildlife to prevent both from harm.

5. Be Fire Savvy: Help prevent wildfires. Never leave campfires unattended, only use existing fire rings, and bring extra water to extinguish your campfire. Check fire restrictions and follow all regulations. Better yet, kill the campfire and enjoy stunning views of the night sky!

6. Be Water Wise: Always wear your life jacket. If you don’t have one, check the boat launch for spares. Be aware of water temperatures and conditions. Water conditions can change rapidly, without warning—don’t make assumptions. Always supervise little ones in and around water.

WINERIES & CIDERIES

Four seasons of sunny days and cool nights combined with our distinct geology create the perfect environment for winemaking. This climate has attracted skilled and passionate winemakers who add their personalities to the story. As the appeal of hard ciders continues to spread, we are fortunate to have orchardists experienced in curating their home-grown and hand-crafted blends right here in the heart of Washington’s apple country.

Housing

The Wenatchee Valley is a desirable place to live—several organizations and publications rate the Valley as one of the top places in the U.S. to live and retire. Combined with a healthy economy, current and new residents to this area sometimes struggle to find housing.

To address this issue, a Housing Solutions Group has been formed as part of Our Valley Our Future community visioning process to conduct research and develop a series of recommendations to policymakers. This effort explored construction cost disparities and existing and future inventory needs. They have completed and published their findings.
