OW Events
Sadly, we have been unable to host our normal programme of OW events this past year. However, over the last few months it has been wonderful to know that OWs in Australia have been able to meet up for their annual OW get togethers in Western Australia and Canberra; details of both events are below.

Seated: John (Hl 45) and Joanna Daly. 10 OWs and partners got together for their annual Western Australia Waterloo Day Celebrations. Robert and Kate Gould very kindly hosted the drinks reception at their new home. Many thanks to Adrian Momber for sharing this with us, we hope you all had a fantastic time!
The annual Canberra and Region lunch was attended by seven OWs and their partners spanning 37 years of attendance at Wellington from 1942 to 1979. The event was held at the Royal Canberra Golf Club with beef bourguignon pot pie on the menu, followed by Belgian waffles to respectively recall Napoleon Bonaparte and Waterloo. Stories shared reflected the diversity of life and careers of all.
Even though we haven’t been able to meet in person for some time now, we have run a number of successful OW virtual events, and it has been incredible how many of you have tuned in to listen.

Last summer we started the ‘Evening with Potts’ three part series, hosted by Chris Potter (C 65) and Mark Milliken-Smith (Bd 81). Chris talked us through his life from his childhood at Wellington to his current role with the Wellington Community and OW Society. Thanks to Mark and Chris for creating such an engaging and fascinating series.

Toward the end of last year we then launched our ‘Teaching through the Decades’ series, which was hosted by Chris Potter and Wellington’s Archivist, Caroline Jones. The brilliant duo spoke to members of the Common Room from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and looked back at Wellington’s fascinating history, previous Masters, changing trends and music culture, teaching styles, girls first coming to Wellington and much more! Thank you to our amazing panellists and to all of you who tuned in and shared your own personal memories and stories from your time at Wellington.
Caroline has also hosted a number of brilliant Heritage talks and we have had record numbers of OWs tuned in! Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to seeing you all in person soon.
