SPORTS lady Bulldogs Score One Win, One loss SOuTH BerWICK – The Berwick Academy girls’ basketball team traveled to Concord, Mass., recently and defeated Concord Academy by a score of 44-31. This was a makeup of a game originally scheduled on Jan 16. The win placed Berwick at 12-4 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs went out to a fast start and led 27-16 at the half. Torie St. Pierre and Rebecca Siegel combined for 15 first-half points. A third junior guard, Suzanna Borg, led Berwick with seven second-half points to stave off any chance of a Concord comeback. Undefeated Beaver Country Day traveled to South Berwick and continued its dominant season with a 73-38 win over Berwick. Beaver is 18-0 on the season, while Berwick fell to 12-5. Four players combined to score all 73 Beaver points, led by senior center Kaila Duarte and senior guard Adi AliceaCordero who combined for 44 points. Junior guards Torie St. Pierre and Rebecca Siegel scored 15 and 9 points respectively for the Lady Bulldogs.
Traip academy State Class “B” Indoor Track results KITTerY – The Traip Academy girls’ indoor track team recently placed third in the 2013 State of Maine Class “B” Indoor Track Championships held at Bates College on Feb. 18. Individual results for Traip students included: State Class B Champion - (55 Meter Hurdles) Ashleigh Roberts - 8.90; State Class B Champion - (Pole Vault) Kelsey Barnes – 10-feet, 6-inches; State Class B Runner-up - (Long Jump) Jocelyn Lorrey - 16-4.50; State Class B Runner-up - (Triple Jump) Jocelyn Lorrey - 36-02.50; and Sixth Place Finish - (4X200 Meter Relay) Kelsey Barnes, Hannah Nightingale, Ashleigh Roberts, Jocelyn Lorrey In boys’ events, Ralph Humiston placed sixth in the pole vault (11.0). Spring Wrestling registration in Progress
YOrK – York Parks and Recreation and the Hammerhead Wrestling Club are currently conducting sign-ups for the spring wrestling sessions. The youth mini-session for kindergarten through fifth grade runs five weeks, Feb. 26
to March 28, 5 to 6 p.m., and is recommended for beginning or experienced wrestlers. It is also suitable for those looking for an activity during the March “shoulder season” before outdoor spring sports start. The club is also hosting signups for its freestyle and Greco-
Roman competition team. Freestyle and Greco are the Olympic styles of the sport and teach wrestlers to score in a faster-paced match than traditional American forkstyle. Fourth- through 12thgraders may enroll. All must be experienced wrestlers. The eight-
