The competition is yet to attract video entries and has urged people put forward submissions free of ‘watermarks’. Cr McLean said entries should focus on WimmeraMallee attractions such as lakes, rivers, parks and gardens, festive events and ‘hidden’ getaways. He said the competition was open to anyone but the entries must be taken within the boundaries of Buloke, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack shires. People can submit entries

Horsham gemstone show Examples of the earth’s most beautiful and curious natural products will be on show in Horsham this weekend.

Horsham and District Lapidary Club’s 16th annual Gemstone and Mineral Exhibition will be on from 10am to 5pm, Saturday and 10am to 4pm, Sunday. The exhibition will be at the club’s headquarters at 24 Roberts Avenue.
Children’s gemstone workshops will be from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on both days. Children will be able to buy $5 kits to make their own gemstone creations. Bookings are required today on 5382 2874.
Natural gemstones, jewellery crafted by enthusiasts, mineral specimens and fossils will all be on display.
Patrons will also be able to fossick for their own gemstones and crystals in a ‘salted’ trailer of sand and there will be various other competitions and prizes.
