Self belief is all that’s left Emus hammered 52-7 but coach is determined to post a win this season

ith just six rounds left in the Shute Shield competition, Penrith’s chances of claiming their fi rst win of the season are getting smaller and smaller if scorelines like last Sunday’s are anything to go by. The re-building Emus were hammered by Northern Suburbs 52-7, in a game which was tipped to be a close affair considering Norths played against Gordon 24 hours before. “It was a major loss,” Emus coach Sateki Tu’ipulotu admitted. “With Norths playing the double weekend I thought we had a chance, it’s just very disappointing and frustrating but not on the boys’ effor ts. “The boys’ efforts were good, the only problem is we were blown out of the park.” With the score 25-7 at half time, Tu’ipulotu was hopeful his side could still make a game of it. “Norths did have some fatigue from playing the day before and we tried to take advantage but again the refereeing was disgraceful,” he said. “There were points in the game where we had momentum but the referee thought otherwise.” Th is Saturday afternoon the Emus return to Nepean Rugby Park to take on the fourth-placed Southern Districts. “The boys just have to believe… we’ve got six more games to get that elusive win one way or another,” Tu’ipulotu said.
