here’s a brand new skin cancer clinic in Penrith, but this one is going above and beyond to provide its patients with the best possible service. While many solo doctors are moving into big corporate practices, Dr Nadi Hanna is holding his ground and doing the exact opposite. After working in a corporate clinic here in Penrith for the past three years, he has decided to open up the Shire Skin Cancer Clinic on Henry Street. “I’m service orientated and I plan to provide personalised service that people are used to and expect from me,” Dr Hanna said. In a career spanning 25 years, Dr Hanna has worked within the skin cancer industry throughout Sydney. But he says Penrith is an area where there are more patients seeking treatment for skin cancer, but less doctors than other areas. “Corporate clinics change doctors all the time, but if people come to my clinic they are guaranteed to see me – I’m not going anywhere,” he said. The Shire Skin Cancer Clinic provides ultrasound diagnostic services and laser therapy for skin cancer, but the local clinic also bulk bills both services. Dr Hanna says he is the only doctor in Penrith providing all the services he is currently offering. “With the extra equipment I can reduce the trauma on a patient because I don’t have to cut out unnecessary lesions – I use the ultrasound diagnostic service, which provides me with an additional tool to spot what needs to be removed,” he said. While Dr Hanna said he may face tough competition from the larger corporate clinics, he would continue to provide the service and care that patients require when being treated for skin cancer.
