Police snapshot Investigations ongoing after fight between three men
Attempted robbery has police searching for two offenders
Three men have been charged, with investigations into others still continuing, after an alleged brawl at a local licensed venue. At about 1.35am on Sunday, March 30, a confrontation between three males occurred in a licensed premises in Penrith. A 36-year-old St Clair man, a 26-year-old Tregear man and a 23-year-old male were involved in a fight. Security stepped in and the men were subdued however a further fight broke out. A number of other people became involved. During the incident, a plasterboard wall was damaged in the venue. The 36-year-old, the 26-year-old and a 23-year-old were all charged with affray and will appear in court over the next two months. Investigations are still continuing.
A group of good Samaritans saved a man from being robbed in Kingswood last weekend. At about 12.40am on Sunday, March 30, a 24-year-old Kingswood man was walking along the Great Western Highway when two males approached him from behind. One male demanded the victim’s phone, and when the victim refused, he was struck in the face. The victim fell to the ground, where he continued to be assaulted. The offenders were attempting to steal the man’s wallet from his pocket, when a group of people driving by stopped their car and came to assist. The two offenders fled. One of the offenders is described as Caucasian, about 16-years-old, with a mullet and the other is described as Pacific Islander.
Bank evacuated after threat by angry customer
House destroyed by fire in Coreen Avenue
A local bank had to be evacuated after a man made threats, relating to explosives, when withdrawing cash. At about 10.30am on Saturday, March 29, a man entered the local branch and approached the teller, attempting to withdraw an amount of cash. An issue arose relating to withdrawing an amount of money without photo identification, to which the man expressed frustrations. He wrote something down on a piece of paper, placing it in a small bin on the counter. A customer found the piece of paper and alerted staff, it said “I am going to blow up this bank�. The bank was evacuated and a search was conducted by police, however no devices were located.
Two people, including a 66-year-old man, were taken to hospital following a house fire in Coreen Avenue. At about 12.40pm on Saturday, March 29, residents of a Coreen Avenue property returned home to find a fire in one of the home’s bedrooms. The fire grew in size and all people left the home, except for a 66-year-old man, who remained inside. Two bystanders entered the home in an attempt to locate the man, finding him on the floor with a decreased level of consciousness. He was dragged from the premises, which was well alight. The fire was extinguished by NSW Fire and Rescue. The man was treated by intensive care paramedics from Penrith.
