While in the area, take a side trip only a few miles away to revisit the Lockport Locks. Celebrating it’s bicentennial this year, see the locks in action on a narrated ride with Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises. The tour includes being raised and lowered 50 feet in the only double set of locks on the Erie Canal! Those who prefer to stay on land can opt for a walking tour or if you’re feeling adventurous, head underground for a different perspective on canal history at the Lockport Cave. The Erie Canal Discovery Center and Locks District offer even more opportunities to learn about the historic waterway once called “The Nation’s First Superhighway.”
