The Depot Pavilion + Concessions at Thompson’s Point is a waterfront, outdoor venue with a scalable capacity of 3,000-8,000 on the southern tip of the Thompson’s Point peninsula. Anchored by the restored Union Station platform shed that was saved from demolition and moved to Thompson’s Point in the late 1960s, the venue is home to the State Theatre Summer Concert Series, as well as a range of regular programming offerings featuring food trucks and outdoor entertainment, festivals, and more.

Jason Mraz’s new album begins and ends with the same phrase: “Look for the good.” Those four words are not just a lyric or the title of his seventh studio album, but also an all-encompassing world philosophy for the musician, who believes that in dark and challenging times we should search for something positive. Look For The Good, written and recorded in Jason’s home studio in Southern California, is a continuation of his career-long love for reggae music. It’s a genre he’s always returned to, inspired both by its rhythms and its revolutionary lyrics, and after making 2018’s Know. the singer found himself ready to further explore how he could participate in the style. Jason connected with producer Michael Goldwasser (founder of indie reggae label Easy Star Records and producer for Matisyahu, Steel Pulse, Toots and the Maytals and his own band, Easy Star All-Stars), who had remixed Jason’s single “Have It All,” and the pair began sending ideas back and forth. Initially, Jason didn’t realize their collaboration would yield an actual album.

CUMBERLAND - The beloved genre-spanning festival brainchild of McCoury Music and High Sierra Music is pleased to announce the initial lineup for its 14th annual festival, once again taking place Sept. 23-26.

This year, festival hosts The Del McCoury Band and The Travelin’ McCourys will be joined by Old Crow Medicine Show, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Sam Bush, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Lil Smokies, Della Mae, Cris Jacobs Band, Hot Club of Cowtown, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, The Broomestix, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, Steve Poltz, Sister Sadie, Lonesome River Band, Ghost of Paul Revere, Dre Anders, Twisted Pine, Fireside Collective, The Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers, Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band, Birches Band, Haint Blue, Dirty Grass Players, and The 9th Street Band. As always, Joe Craven, will emcee for the weekend.

In addition to traditional stage sets by these world-class artists, attendees can again expect to see one-of-a-kind collaborations, special guest sit-ins, various tributes to Del McCoury and his musical legacy, and intimate appearances from the aforementioned artists. Delfest will, as usual, be immediately preceded by the 3-day DelFest Academy hosted by The Travelin’ McCourys and other all-star players.

Located along the Potomac River in the scenic Appalachian Mountains, and personally chosen by Del, the Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, MD (2.5 hours from Baltimore and D.C.) serves as the ideal location for DelFest. The fairgrounds are conveniently located near four major airports and can be easily reached by rail or road. The city of Cumberland is a welcoming host offering multiple hotel options, a charming downtown, and great amenities that include biking, fishing, and kayaking, as well as a steam train engine and museum, and interesting dining options. Come for the music, and perhaps stay an extra day to explore the area offerings which are well suited for music fans and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

The festival, which typically happens Memorial Day weekend, will make a one-time move to the fall in 2021 to ensure a COVID-safe gathering.

A new initiative dedicated to cultivating local acting talent, Worc at Play is offered in partnership with The Hanover Theatre Conservatory and provides nocost actor training and performance opportunities to greater Worcester residents ages 18+.

Famed singer, comedian, ventriloquist and “America’s Got Talent” winner Terry Fator is following up his record-breaking Las Vegas residency with an all-new show, “Terry Fator: Who’s the Dummy Now?” Fator previewed the show for several weeks at the New York-New York Theater inside New York-New York Hotel & Casino, and will move into his new space at the resort’s Liberty Loft beginning Wednesday, Aug. 11.

“Terry has been an important member of our MGM Resorts Entertainment family for more than a decade, playing a crucial role in our city’s entertainment landscape,” said Mike Neubecker, New York-New York’s President & COO. “We look forward to opening Liberty Loft next month, our property’s newest entertainment venue, and welcoming Terry’s fans with an intimate show experience.”

Classically trained Indian dancer and founder of Sanskruti School of Indian Dance and Music, Shambhavi Desai will lead this outdoor class to teach participants a blend of Indian dance. Join us for an invigorating afternoon appropriate for all age levels. The dance will be a combination of popular folk and light classical dance movements, which will be easy to follow and fun for all. Please wear comfortable clothes, bring water, and shoes are optional during the class. Class duration is one hour and 15 minutes.

Sanskruti School of Indian Dance and Music was founded in Pittsburgh by the performing artiste, choreographer and artistic director, Guru Smt. Shambhavi Desai. It offers an ongoing comprehensive training for beginner through advanced levels in Bharatanatyam, Lok Nritya (Folk dance), and Hindustani Classical, Semi Classical and Devotional music. Its mission is to groom the students in Indian culture and performing arts, and to support, celebrate and present to a wide range of international audiences the dance and music of India through performances, workshops, educational outreach programs, and formal dance and music instruction. Sanskruti also offers a formal examination for Hindustani classical vocal conducted by the ‘Pandit Jasraj Institute for Music and Research’ after the first two or three years of training.

Sanskruti dance and music programs are influenced by the contemporary cultures of India, by experimenting with different languages, music, and social topics-while retaining the unique Indian essence that defines the Indian Diaspora.
