Happy New Year!

About the Cover :

The old cliche’ of “my New Year’s Resolution is NOT to make any more New Year’s Resolutions” has gotten old. So has the same old, same old that I make every year and then let fall by the wayside before January 2nd ... You know, the daily exercise and lose weight routine. Turn over a new leaf and be kind to everybody, no more candy; eat healthier. This year my new year’s resolution is a promise to myself to be different. I will not let my resolutions fall by the wayside. It’s a brand new year and we have so much to be thankful for. So I will make brand new resolutions that I’ve never made before. January 1 finds The Weekender Magazine moved into new offices. With more room and more employees, we’ll be expanding into other areas with new issues this Spring. I’ve learned with this move that I’m a packrat almost to the level of being a hoarder! So my first New Year’s Resolution is to organize and throw stuff away. (Well, maybe I should just keep one or two or even three copies for safe keeping...) My second resolution is to quit committing to more responsibilities than I can handle. It’s just that there are so many places to go, and things to do, and people to see that I have trouble saying “no.” And all I want to do is share them with you - my readers! Third, but certainly not last, I will make every attempt to offer more pages covering great events every month, surpassing each issue from before. And with this promise to myself, I won’t break any of my resolutions. Instead, I’ll carry them through all year long. Stay tuned for our Open House announcement. We invite all our readers to join us as we celebrate a new address, new offices, new staff and new coverage areas in 2013. My only heartbreak is that Mr. Tim Moore, former boss, inspiration, and original partner for The Weekender will not be present to witness this grand event. He went home to be with the Lord in October after battling a lengthy illness. As a Certified Business Adviser for the Ohio Small Business Development Center, he was instrumental in encouraging us to make this move. He was even helping in the search for the right new location. So, Tim, I pay tribute to your memory as we continue to push our dream forward....

Find innovative products, new ideas, practical advice and great deals in remodeling, home improvement and decor with hundreds of experts all under one roof. From windows and flooring to cabinets and roofing and much more. Shop, compare and save for 10 days only! The centerpiece home on display this year is presented by Fischer Homes. With 5,191 square feet, not including basement or garage, four bedrooms and up to 4 1/2 bathrooms, it is by far the largest Centerpiece Home constructed indoors for the Home Show. History Channel's American Pickers celebrity, FrankFritz, will share with attendees on Saturday, Jan. 26 Frank started picking early, collecting rocks and beer cans as a kid. He worked for many years as a fire and safety inspector but always had a passion for

antiques, junk and anything with an engine. These days, he spends most of his time on the road with Mike, digging for treasure in barns, garage and junkyards across America. Even-tempered and affable, he has a way with potential sellers and a knack for putting out fires: Mike calls him the bearded charmer. Frank does get a little carried away, however, by anything with an engine, and Mike often has to talk him out of buying yet another motorbike for his collection.

“I'm a modern day recycler,” says Frank on his official website. “I'm in the antique collectable field. My interests are old motorcycles, old toys, old cars, and anything that is old and unusual. I grew up in Iowa but have traveled all over this beautiful country. I started collecting at a very early age. Now I'm a seller/buyer.
