Some tips for Wedding Photography by a Wedding Photographer

By Sherry Clewell Photography

You have invested a lot of time to prepare for your elegant wedding which is the biggest day of your life, regardless of how large or small it may be. You thought of everything. But have you considered preparing yourself to be photographed so that your images look nice? Have you considered hiring a make-up artist? Make-up artists help to cover up flaws in your skin and make your skin look flawless. Get a make-up consultation before your wedding day and see what look you like. You do not need a lot make-up to glow just natural beauty! Sometimes brides use enhancements such as eye lashes and eye liner which accentuate their eyes. I love a bride that does this step, their photos always look better than with out make-up. The lashes are an added touch. Have you considered having your hair styled by a hair stylist so that your hair is perfect for your photographs? Your hair style should accentuate your features and your personality. Schedule a hair style trial to see if you like your look for your wedding day. Be sure your hair style fits with your gown style. These are two areas that are important to obtain good photographs by your photographer on your wedding day. You may want a headpiece in your hair such as a veil or tiara which can accent your hair style and finish off your look. Another tip I always tell my bride and groom is to get plenty of rest the night before so they can make it through a long wedding day. This helps you to enjoy the day. Eating breakfast will also help.

When choosing your photographer, consider these tips: Look at their sample albums and get a feel for their “photographic” personality by noticing the style that they show. Are they a creative style or solely traditional? Are they energetic or down to earth? Is your photographer an experienced photographer with years behind them or a new photographer? Can your photographer handled situations and take control of the matter at hand? Trying to save a few dollars may actually cost you a lot more in the long run because of all the things that were not done and now you have no clue what to do. This will cause you to become extremely frustrated and say my photos still aren’t ready. A good photographer carries insurance, carries back up equipment, and has great people and posing skills. Also, be sure to hire your photographer at least 12 months in advance. Wedding Photographers know weddings are hard work, but we love it!
