Longest Traveller: CAMP BELAN trained by L Russell, Kinross, 216 miles.
RACE DESCRIPTION This is a three miles handicap steeple chase has been designed for five-year-olds and upwards which are rated from 0 to 120. In most National Hunt handicaps, there is a minimum weight of 10st so any horse whose official rating would allocate them less than that still has to shoulder that burden. The horses that fall into this category are said to be racing from ‘out of the handicap’ – usually a distinct disadvantage.

Jockey: Sean Quinlan Owner: Mr Richard Collins Trainer: Gillian Boanas, Saltburn Breeder: Ms C. Corrigan & Tom Conway Sponsor: Collins (Seafoods) Ltd
TIMEFORM VIEW Useful at his best, but ended last season on a downer. However, he ran better than for a while from a tumbling mark when runner-up at Newcastle last time and he’s had a wind op since. Star RatingHHHII BHA 120 2 FIRAK (FR) (30) 2/361-03 D

TIMEFORMVIEWOpened hurdles account at the sixth attempt at Chepstow 13 months ago. Considerately handled on return and unable to live with pair of last-time-out winners retried over fences since. Not dismissed. Star RatingHHHII BHA 120 3 DHOWIN (IRE) (24) F4-3332

TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful hurdles winner who has shown a similar level over fences, runner-up at Warwick (25.4f) 24 days ago. Up 4lb but a must for the shortlist with the in-form Brian Hughes booked. Star RatingHHHHH BHA 119 4 MR SCRUMPY (GB) (39) 0UP-543 CD

B g Court Cave (IRE) - Lady Brig Owner: Mrs Wendy Hamilton Breeder: Mr & Mrs Michael Hamilton Jockey: Tom Midgley (5) Trainer: Mark Walford, Sheriff Hutton Sponsor: Mark Walford Racing
TIMEFORM VIEW Winning pointer/hurdler. Very much bred for chasing but held back by inexperience as he failed to justify heavy support at Kelso last month. Tongue tie applied and surely capable of better. Star RatingHHHII BHA 116 6 CHEF D’OEUVRE (FR) (34) 10-P3P5 D
11 11-7
B g Martaline - Kostroma (FR) Owner: The Sandmoor Partnership 2 Breeder: Ecurie Winning Jockey: Jonathan England Trainer: Sam England, Guiseley Sponsor: Tote, Keighley Steel
TIMEFORM VIEW Possesses deep reserves of stamina but seemed to find it too much of a test when pulled up at Haydock. Failed to land a blow at Catterick since so plenty to prove with the cheekpieces back on. Star RatingHHIII BHA 115 7 TIMELESS BEAUTY (IRE) (26) 43-1320 D
7 11-7
B m Yeats (IRE) - Love Divided (IRE) Jockey: A. P. Heskin Owner: McNeill Family & Patrick&Scott Bryceland Trainer: Fergal O’Brien, Cheltenham Breeder: Mr Ciaran O’Toole Sponsor: Ultima Business Solutions
TIMEFORM VIEW Doubled his chase tally at Bangor on return and backed it up with a creditable second at Ayr. Not on a going day at Newcastle since so hard to back with much confidence given his profile. Star RatingHHIII BHA 114 9 FURAX (FR) (29) 21620-0

TIMEFORM VIEW Notched third success over fence in first-time cheekpieces at Ayr (3m) recently but turned in a rare poor effort at Newcastle next time. Bounce back required. Star RatingHHIII BHA 112 11 CAMP BELAN (IRE) (32) 353-322
B g Milan - Glencree Spirit (IRE) Owner: Mrs S Russell & A M Russell Breeder: Stephen Campion
6 11-2
Jockey: Derek Fox Trainer: Lucinda Russell, Kinross Sponsor: Ian Macleod & Co Ltd
TIMEFORMVIEW Back to the form he showed on his sole run in Ireland when second on his handicap/chase bow at Bangor. Similar form upped in trip over this C&D last time and potential for a better effort remains. Star RatingHHHII BHA 110 12 LADRONNE (FR) (49) 4443-16 C
8 11-1
B g Linda’s Lad - Worldeta (FR)
Jockey: Richie McLernon Owner: T C Racing Syndicate Trainer: Tjade Collier, Wilsden Breeder: Gheorghe Codre & Roxan Popescu Sponsor: Lexicon Recruitment
TIMEFORM VIEW Fair winning hurdler who, on the back of another wind op, made it sixth time lucky over fences when scoring at this track (19.4f) in December. Not in same form at Kelso since so questions to answer. Star RatingHHHII BHA 109 13 DEEP CHARM (GB) (31) P-P4212 D
8 11-1
B g Kayf Tara - Reel Charmer Jockey: Sam Coltherd Owner: Mr Richard & Mrs Lisa Mcculloch Trainer: Stuart Coltherd, Selkirk Breeder: George A. Charlton Sponsor: Michael Bell Racing, Dem-Master Demolition Ltd
TIMEFORM VIEW Has immediately improved for the switch to fences this term, opening his account at Hexham in December. Similar form when second at Kelso next time and he should have a bright future in this sphere. Star RatingHHHHI BHA 109 14 SCOOP THE POT (IRE) (39) 03561P D

B g Mahler - Miss Brecknell (IRE) Owner: Mr John P. McManus Breeder: Robert McCarthy Jockey: Alain Cawley Trainer: Ben Haslam, Middleham
TIMEFORM VIEW Veteran who took advantage of his sliding mark when narrowly prevailing at Newcastle in December. Made plenty of mistakes and found to be coughing next time so needs to quickly put that behind him. Star RatingHHIII BHA 108 15 SIGURD (GER) (20) 3-65004 CD

PLAY SMARTER DHOWIN should have capitalised on the drop in class at Warwick last month, going like easily the best horse at the weights but collared close home having gone for home too early. Upped 4lb for that effort and with the red-hot Brian Hughes taking over in the saddle, he can gain compensation. Deep Charm, Firak and Into Overdrive are just a trio of possible dangers.
