12.20 - Neff Gary Moore’s inmate was progressive last season, leading up to his last run when finishing 14th of 24 runners in the Betfair Hurdle here at Newbury. That race was probably a bit hot, but this youngster has had time to strengthen up since and resumes service on a workable handicap mark of 130. He’s had a wind operation and also has Niall Houlihan claiming a 6lb allowance, which is useful. Neff is the sort to go well fresh and he looks good for a promising run first time out.

1.30 - The Big Breakaway Colin Tizzard could have a very smart novice chaser on his hands in the shape of the strong and athletic The Big Breakaway, who shaped with tremendous promise in a light novice hurdling campaign last season. The yard thinks the world of him and he’s sure to make it onto quite a few Tote Ten to Follow lists as well. Definitely one to watch today.

2.30 - Third Wind Third Wind runs for Flat trainer Hughie Morrison and is an interesting prospect in the staying hurdles division this season. He finished 4th behind Sire Du Berlais in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham in March and hasn’t been seen since. The 6yo shoulders top weight here and has a bit on his plate first time out but should go very well under regular pilot Tom O’Brien.
