SATURDAY 8 JULY
Welcome to Gentlemen’s Day at Sandown Park for a spectacular day of summer afternoon Flat racing.
I would firstly like to take this opportunity to thank all of the sponsors on today’s card, an exciting afternoon looks to be in store.
Our feature race today is the Listed Molson Coors Scurry Stakes. In the past the race has been won by the likes of Lazuli, Margot Did and most notably Battaash who is still the only horse to have run the race in under a minute This phenomenal sprinter out of Dark Angel not only won the Scurry Stakes in 2017 but also the Coral Charge, King George Stakes and an emphatic win in the Prix de l’Abbaye all in the same year He would also go on to win The Nunthorpe Stakes and The King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot later in his career The Champion Sprinter was rated 123 at the time of retiring, making him the equal 15th best racehorse in the world and the best sprinter in Europe.
Off track we have the Brass Squad keeping you entertained with their lively music throughout the day as well as lawn games in various shady locations for those wanting a different type of challenge. Ahead of racing listen out for betting tips for the card live from the parade ring and we will have an interactive darts experience in the Grandstand featuring a couple of famous faces from the world of darts.
Keeping you cool and refreshed throughout the day you’ll find plenty of food and beverage options to try, including ice cream carts trackside We have a variety of options located in the Food Court in the Grandstand as well as various concession stands throughout the racecourse
The Coral-Eclipse Summer Festival is rapidly approaching, starting with Ladies Day on Friday 7 July featuring the Style Awards followed by the unmissable Coral-Eclipse Day on Saturday 8 July. To secure your spot, we suggest purchasing tickets in advance through our website www. thejockeyclub.co.uk/sandown for all our events. While the Coral-Eclipse Summer Festival still offers hospitality packages and restaurant reservations, they are in high demand and selling out quickly.
I wish you a splendid time at Sandown Park today and wish the horses and their connections the very best of luck

10. Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and Ibs)

PLAY SMARTER
CONNEMARA COAST suffered a poor run when an unlucky fourth at Newmarket last time and can gain compensation off a good-looking mark here. The Parent is also weighted to have a say though and should ensure Richard Hughes’ gelding doesn’t have things all his own way. Sudden Ambush and Loyal Touch complete the shortlist.

Baltimore Boy and low-mileage 4-y-o New Dimension are others fancied to be in the mix, whilst Maysong could provide a spot of each-way value at longer odds.

Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn first time by No 2. Tongue Strap worn by No 7.
Stewards Note:
HE’S A MONSTER: Following its run on 2/6/2023 it was reported that the horse resented the undulations. CARAGIO: Following its run on 17/5/2023 it was reported that the horse was slowly away.
Probable S.P’s: 11-4 Owl Island (IRE), 11-2 He’s A Monster (IRE), Classic (GB), 6-1 Ancestral Land (GB), 8-1 Harry Magnus (IRE), 10-1 New Definition (GB), 16-1 Caragio (IRE), Bussento (GB)
This can go the way of HARRY MAGNUS, who had his hat-trick bid scuppered by a tardy start at Doncaster 4 weeks ago but, with Ryan Moore on board for the first time, he’s fancied to regain the winning thread. Owl Island has made the perfect start to his career, and with even more to offer now handicapping, he’s put forward as the main danger Bussento and New Definition can fight out third spot. TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.HARRY MAGNUS (IRE) 2.OWL ISLAND (IRE) 3.BUSSENTO

At Sandown Park Racecourse we believe racing should be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. And one thing is certainly true, the more relaxed and comfortable we feel, the more likely we are to have a great time. So that’s why we’ve created one very simple piece of guidance, to come “dressed to feel your best”. Whatever your tastes, the most important thing when choosing your outfit is, of course, comfort and confidence. So wear what feels right for you and will keep you feeling your best from start to finish, whatever the weather
The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £684,559 in ratecard and incremental prize money at this racecourse from May to August 2023
Weights, Pedigrees, Trainers’ Names, Descriptions, Performances and Values of races have been added for the convenience of the Public, but are subject to alteration
All horses must parade in the Parade Ring except by permission of the Stewards, but in all cases must pass through the Ring on the way to the Post The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone without assigning a reason for so doing.
In the interests of safety, access to the parade ring is strictly limited to Owners and Trainers with runners in the race, British Horseracing Authority and Racecourse Officials who are on duty at the meeting and Emergency Service Personnel. Those people holding badges or accreditation that allow access to the Parade Ring are asked to refrain from entering this area unless it is absolutely necessary in the course of their business
Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the public enclosures Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication without prior accreditation being obtained. Flash photography is not allowed anywhere on the Racecourse as it may distract or frighten horses.
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Sandown Park Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
