Rhys Oates fired home a low shot to put the Stags ahead early on. Jordan Bowery then doubled the lead with a tapin at the back post. The visitors pulled a goal back going into the second leg when Ali Koiki found the bottom corner with a right-footed strike in the second half.

MANSFIELD TOWN 1 COBBLERS 0 Oli Hawkins scored the only goal as the Cobblers lost 1-0 away to Mansfield Town in April. Northampton started brightly but the hosts took the lead midway through the first half when Hawkins headed home Matty Longstaff’s corner. The visitors looked to respond and Mitch Pinnock hit the cross bar but Liam Roberts made three good saves before the break. Paul Lewis was shown two yellow cards in quick succession late on as the Stags secured all three points.

COBBLERS 2 MANSFIELD TOWN 0 The Cobblers won 2-0 at home to Mansfield in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Aaron McGowan broke the deadlock with his side’s first shot, drilling into the bottom corner from 20 yards. Both sides came close to getting the allimportant second goal, Hawkins heading straight at Roberts and Kion Etete smashing the crossbar shortly after the interval.
