Many people select ahorse based on it’snameorjockey colours or go to the Parade Ring to view the horses Alternatively you may wish to follow aparticular jockey or trainer,ora tipster in anewspaper.Others liketolook at the horse’sprevious races or ‘form’.

2. WHERE TO PLACE YOUR BET

1. In the Betting Ring, in front of the Grandstand, with aracecourse ‘bookie’. This is great fun as you can shop around for the bookmaker offering the biggest odds on your selection.

2. With totepool at one of their designated betting points all around the racecourse

3. At the totesport betting shop in the Links Pavilion, which is identical to ahigh street betting shop

4. At the totesport club office,ifyou are amember of the totesport club.

3. PLACE YOUR BET

Decide how much you want to stake, and what type of bet you would liketoplace.Then Cheer your selection home! There are afew simple rules that you need to follow after placing your bet.

-Please check your receipt. Mistakes cannot be rectified after arace is off

-Keep your bet receipt safe.You will need this to collect your winnings

-Don’t throw away your ticket until the racecourse announcer says ‘Weighed In’.

-Even if your horse has not won, the result may be changed if there is a‘Stewards Enquiry’. GOOD
